here's a little preamble to this poem: i've been sorta dating this girl from NY (i live in PA), and we've been writing letters to each other and calling each other a lot and it's really cool. so for one of the letters i wanted to write her a poem, cause i enjoy writing, but i was having a difficult time expressing my feelings for her in words. so i wrote this. i know it's a tad cliche, but it's honest, you can decide which is more important. "The Limitation of Words" I can’t seem to find the words to express my sentiment. I feel a feeling that is beyond my vocabulary, though I search and expand it each day. I could pilfer the countless phrases of other poets I know, or simply recite some Shakespeare, but it would not suffice. If there was a way to express my sentiment, I know I would sound good, I would sound brilliant, and emotion would spill from her being. I could describe the beauty of her eyes or her hair or her smile, but words cannot describe those, words cannot communicate her voice, or depict the feeling I get from simply speaking to her. I suppose words will not do her justice.
I like the idea but if you want to impress her you'll have to mould it more. Shape it. Slim it. Let it live by making it more alive.
