Has anyone actually seen Hair performed on the stage? I'll I've seen is the movie (which isn't bad. . .but I've heard the original version is kick-ass.)
I saw HAIR when it toured last in the mid 90s, but havent seen the movie. It was a super experience, and not the usual theatre style play. The curtain was open before the show, with stagehands, actors, and musicians mingling among patrons up untill the first song began and after as well. The music was super and the leads were still being done by the writers rado and ragne. The nude scene was not really much to speak of, certainly not the focus of the play, and after watching a person has so much in their heads that they dont really think about the nudity. People who have seen the movie and not the play always ask about deep charachter development that doesnt happen in the stage version, very little is known about Donna for example. But I do love it, and enjoy talking about the show, and theater in general!
i saw it in houston. it was amazing!!!!! although i had to expalin what sodomy was to my 13 year old sis. lol
I've never actually seen it, but I used to have the soundtrack. It's definatly on my list musicals that I need to see when they come to Atlanta if they're still touring...
actually, atlantas fox theater is where I saw HAIR. there has been a tour of HAIR planned for some time, but it gets delayed from lack of theater houses saying they will book it...call your local theater and tell them you want it!
I didnt think the nude scene made any difference, at the moment a person is much more focused on what happened to claude! When I saw the show, it was a "damn, that was the nude scene wasnt it?" kinda thing, and barely noticeable as nude. Honestly, Ive seen much more risque bits in other shows, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof it aint!haha the actors arent required to do the scene, and it is often left out of performances, with little or no effect on the story or experience of the show. As a nude scene, its overrated really.
I saw it done at a local theatre festival. It was really good, but I found it different than the movie. I think I liked the play more.
