Forming an Eco Preservation Business

Hi there,

Im looking to create a web based environmental project funding business and I was wondering if anyone here was intereted in giving the idea a try.

Basically the idea is to create things which help the environment in more than one way and sell them to fund community projects in the region in which the contributor lives.

I will give you an example. We are presently working on pre production for a fundraising movie to preserve the worlds oldest rainforest which has been subdivided and sold off in Australia. A large percentage of the proceeds will be used to enable us to buy the forest back with the movie being promoted to environmentally aware people who want a good nights entertainment and an easy way of helping save the world.

The movie will launch the a range of other projects which will become the core of the business. This will include things like our range of greeting cards which require no recycling in order to be reused..with funds used for revegetation projects thereby creating one of the worlds first eco positive products. The purchase of one set of cards, which in themselves can be used perpetually, will result in the planting of a tree thereby sequestering more carbon than it used to manufacture.

We will be involved in publishing, not just with the soundtrack for the movie, but also through the compilation of what we call our collections series. We believe its important to reduce the effort people have to make to preserve the world. So we create outlets for the most inexpensive thing of all : ideas.

The website will compile interesting ideas on a variety of subjects that we will call for contributions on. The commercial component of the book proceeds will then go to the community of the person who came up with that idea and the remainder of the proceeds will be used to develop additional projects.

We have had a lot of interest from artists looking to sell artwork on a commission basis through the "virtual gallery" that we are looking to create.

The aim will be to create a consumer base of people that wish to allow their consumption of the environment (for every product costs the earth in some way) to be as close to neutral as possible.

Contributors that assist with the setting up will receive a small royalty from whatever turnover the business makes. It might only be enough to buy a Big Mac once a week or it could be something more if we can create ways for the site to be successful and reach that segment of the community out there that is wishing there was a way to do something.

At the moment its something we are just doing for free in our spare time to do something good for the planet, so if your happy to live with the fact that this might be your only reward we would love to have you involved.

i'm very interested in this. i'm currently trying to get people together to record an album of some stuff i wrote, and i was wondering if i could sell it though your site and do some good for the environment at the same time. am i completely missing the point of the site? or would this be okay? i'd like to know more asap. if i don't get back here, my email is spev7@comcast.net
