So... If a bunch of little red hat people show up somewhere and violently trash the place, Trump get's locked up for inciting a riot... Right? Oh! Wait... He still hasn't been locked up for the last riot... Never mind.
Trump’s Grip on G.O.P. Faces New Strains excerpt: "The Trump-first faction had accounted for 54 percent of Republican voters in October 2020. The erosion since then spanned every demographic: men and women, moderates and conservatives, people of every age. Among the biggest swings was in a group widely seen as Mr. Trump’s most loyal constituency: white Republicans without college degrees, who went from 62 percent identifying first with Mr. Trump to 36 percent. Frank Luntz, a prominent G.O.P. pollster, said Republican support for the former president is moving in complex ways — simultaneously both intensifying and diminishing. “The Trump group is smaller today than it has been in five years, but it is even more intense, more passionate and more unforgiving of his critics,” Mr. Luntz said. “As people slowly drift away — which they are — those who are still with him are even stronger in their support.”"
“Actually, what they are saying, is that Mike Pence did have the right to change the outcome, and they now want to take that right away. Unfortunately, he didn’t exercise that power, he could have overturned the Election!” ~ Donald J. Trump Admission of Guilt.
That's part of why Trump lost the 2020 election. When faced with crises like civil unrest and the coronavirus, he folded and chose to narrow his appeal to his hardcore adherents (who likely would have supported him under any circumstances) at the expense of not appealing to those of more moderate views who had supported him in 2016 and were just barely sufficient for him to eke an electoral win while losing the popular vote. He's becoming increasingly entrenched. It's down to a revenge campaign for his lost election, pardons for his rioters, calls for more riots, accusations of racism against him, and praise of his unfinished border wall. Gone is what had been front-burner talk about reforming healthcare, negotiating trade, reducing the national debt, and helping the working class left-behinders.
By Trump's interpretation of the Electoral Count Act of 1887, if he runs in 2024 and wins, Kamala Harris has the power to overturn the election for Biden.
This is perfect evidence of the 100% HYPOCRISY of McConnell and THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. "When we want something, it's OK. When YOU want something - even if it's in the law and it's normal procedure - NO. We won't budge. We'll shut you down - no matter the cost to the American people." McConnell is a classless P.O.S.
Working class left-behinders are the L-A-S-T thing on T****'s mind. But ........ he suckered plenty of them into thinking he was going to make their lives & world better. "Fooled me once - shame on you. Fool me twice - "hell - I'll vote fer him agin!!"
Trump Lashes Out at Prosecutors Like a Man Who Knows He’s About to Be Held Accountable for the First Time in His Life His chilling remarks prompted Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis to ask for security assistance from the FBI. By Bess Levin January 31, 2022 Trump Lashes Out at Prosecutors Like a Man Who Knows He’s About to Be Held Accountable for the First Time in His Life excerpt: "One of the most frustrating things about Donald Trump is the fact that despite being what U.S. penal code 212(j)(1)(j) defines as “a hugely corrupt motherf--ker,” for most of his 75 years on earth, he’s escaped any and all responsibility for his actions. Oh, sure, he’s paid some money here and there to make things that would be a huge deal for anyone else a footnote in his biography, and yeah, he did agree to have his charity shut down after it was accused by the New York attorney general of “persistently illegal conduct,” but largely, the guy has gotten away with everything, from attempting to extort another country for his own political gain to lying to the public about the severity of a highly contagious disease to inciting an insurrection that left five people dead and then “gleefully” watching it on TV like it was a pay-per-view boxing match he and his son did the commentary for. And yet! As investigations into the ex-president ramp up, it appears his run of luck may be coming to an end, a prediction we‘re basing solely on the fact that he sounds like he knows the walls are closing in."
National Archives receives Trump records that were ripped apart, taped back together: report excerpt: "Some of the Trump White House documents that were handed over to the House Select Committee on Jan. 6 by the National Archives and Records Administration were reportedly torn up and taped back together. Three sources familiar with the records told The Washington Post about the state of the administration documents, which the National Archives confirmed to the newspaper. In a statement to The Post, the National Archives said that documents turned over from the Trump White House “included paper records that had been torn up by former President Trump.""
Trump is receiving feedback from his attorneys about the status of the civil and criminal investigations of him. As the situation becomes more serious, his behavior will likely show an increased lashing out at people. He's already frustrated by it. He hadn't tried to stop the civil investigation in NY by James until plans were made in December 2021 to have him deposed. Then he filed a lawsuit to try to end it. Trump made a veiled swipe at James in NY and and Willis in Atlanta, both women and African-American, when he said prosecutors were mentally sick and racist and when he talked about future protests in NY and Atlanta.
I know I haven't been contributing a lot to this thread lately and there's a reason: I AM SO SICK TO DEATH OF HEARING ABOUT DONALD FUCKING TRUMP! When he's finally charged with something I'll be back. Until then I'll be sporadic here.
Exclusive: Trump advisers drafted more than one executive order to seize voting machines, sources tell CNN - CNNPolitics excerpt: "Former President Donald Trump's advisers drafted two versions of an executive order to seize voting machines -- one directing the Department of Defense to do so and another the Department of Homeland Security -- as part of a broader effort to undermine the 2020 election results, multiple sources tell CNN. The idea of using the federal government to access voting machines in states that Trump lost was the brainchild of retired Col. Phil Waldron and retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, the sources said. Both Army veterans spread misinformation about the election being stolen from Trump. While advisers publicly floated the idea at the time, revelations that two draft executive orders were actually drawn up for different agencies to carry out the job underscores the extent to which the former President's allies wanted to weaponize the powers of his lame-duck administration to overturn the election. Any operation for the military or federal agents to seize voting equipment for political purposes would have been unprecedented in US history."
What I found far more disturbing was should the DA's charge him with a crime there should be protests (i.e. violent riots) in the respective cities and throughout the country. And hinting at the possibility of pardoning the January 6th rioters, and anyone participating in any future riots should he win in 2024
