Next summer myself, my boyfriend, and two of our friends/band mates are going to be living in a 1969 school bus that we have converted into a motor home. Anyway we want to go some where in BC but none of us know of anywhere we could go. We would prefer to go to a camping coummunal setting if possible, if not just a nice wooded place to camp, preferably with some water source near by. So if anyone knows of any good communes/camping pleace let me know! If anyone knows of any communes in Oregon and Washington that would be great too.

    thanks
    peace

Do you already have this bus? How many people are living in it?

you definitely want to be heading to the west kootenays for the summer. nelson b.c. is a great starting point for making connections. hook up with people in front of the kootenay co-op food store. an hour south from nelson is the shambhala music festival, mid august. tickets are on sale now. www.shambhalamusicfestival.com a half hour south of nelson is a cool little free campground, (cottonwood falls). has a nice deep lake for swimming (legend has it there is an engine from a train that got derailed long time ago, sitting in the bottom). there is the hills' garlic festival, weekend after labour day. winlaw, b.c., a rainbow of people, styles, hair and vehicals and lifestyles. check out the howling wolf cafe. there are countless hot springs in the area, tons of good local grown. nelson has streetfest in mid july. an international gathering of street performers. it's free. there are numerous communes in the area. most notable is the kootenay lake land co-op in argenta. i think they are celibrating their 30th year this year. also the maa land co-op, which i believe might be looking for new comers. a half hour west of nelson is the 12 tribes farm. you are always welcome for a visit. they also run a bakery in nelson. also someone has a thread on here about a tipi village, you might want to check that out. if you're into sweats, look up yellow bear, he's located in the valley. one site you should check out is www.slocanvalley.com and let me add, that in the event your bus breaks down there is no shortage of parts in that neck of the woods. enjoy!!
