According to ITN there are more than 40 scumbag 'nasty sleaze party' MPs who have now written letters to the 1922 Committee stating they no longer have confidence in bastard Boris. Just 14 more letters and it will trigger a leadership contest. Now up to the scared, cowardly scumbags to grow a pair of cojones and write their letters !!!

Should it be that Boris is removed from this leadership role, and taken from his 'guest-house/hotel/home' at Number 10
(and lest we not forget - if a leadership battle is forced, then there's no guarentee that he will lose it!)
    what are the alternatives?
    - Like it, or not
The system in place would see a retention of the strategies and values, until an General election is available.
My concern in removing the head from a Hydra, only sees temporary respite, and enables the excuse of what was/is wrong was 'BJ's fault', and not the Party (" ... so still vote for us")

You're wrong, if enough scumbags manage to scribble letters of 'no confidence' to triggger a leadership contest, Boris would not be permitted to enter the hustings.

How many more bloody parties will this lying, conniving pisshead prime minister attend ???

Picture emerges of Boris Johnson near bottle of bubbly during Christmas quiz

    Sam Blewett and David Hughes
9 February 2022, 0:37 pmScotland Yard is facing calls to investigate another event in No 10 for breaches of Covid rules after a picture emerged appearing to show Boris Johnson near a bottle of sparkling wine.

The Mirror published a photo showing the Prime Minister and staff – one wearing tinsel – near the open bottle during a Christmas quiz during coronavirus restrictions.

The event on December 15 2020 is not one of those being investigated by the Metropolitan Police after officers were passed evidence from the Sue Gray inquiry.

The image added to the pressure on the Prime Minister after major Tory donor John Armitage suggested his leadership is past the point of no return.

Battling to stay in power in the face of Conservative unrest over partygate, Mr Johnson signalled to the Commons that laws requiring people in England with Covid-19 to self-isolate will be lifted within weeks.

But the Mirror publishing its latest photo during Prime Minister’s Questions prompted a challenge from shadow minister Fabian Hamilton.

The Labour MP said the image appears to show “one of the Christmas parties he told us never happened”, adding: “Will the Prime Minister be referring this party to the police as it is not one of the ones currently being investigated?”

Mr Johnson responded: “In what he has just said, I’m afraid he is completely in error.”

Challenged again during PMQs, Mr Johnson added: “That event already has been submitted for investigation.”

London was under Tier 2 restrictions at the time, which prohibited social mixing between different households indoors.

Official guidance said: “Although there are exemptions for work purposes, you must not have a work Christmas lunch or party, where that is a primarily social activity and is not otherwise permitted by the rules in your tier.”

Ms Gray’s update into her inquiry revealed that police were investigating 12 events in Downing Street and wider government, but the “online Christmas quiz” was not considered to have “reached the threshold for criminal investigation”.

Dominic Cummings, Mr Johnson’s hostile former chief adviser, tweeted: “There’s waaaaay better pics than that floating around, incl in the flat.”

Adam Wagner, a human rights lawyer who has been examining Covid laws, said: “I think there is no longer any justification for the police not to investigate this event.

“I imagine the reason decided not to investigate this gathering is because the (previous) image was ambiguous – the PM may have dialled in but not have been himself participating in an illegal gathering. But now it seems obvious from the photo he himself is participating in a social gathering.”

The Prime Minister’s press secretary insisted the event was a “virtual quiz” but was unable to say whether the photograph had been submitted to the Gray inquiry in evidence.

“I’m not going to get into precise evidence but she obviously had access to all the evidence she needed,” the press secretary said.

With police having received more than 300 photographs from Ms Gray’s investigation, Mr Johnson gave his firmest commitment to date to “immediately publish in full whatever” he is given by Ms Gray after all inquiries are concluded.

Earlier in the day, Mr Armitage, who has given more than £3 million to the Conservative Party, said leaders should quit if they lose their “moral authority” as he said “the lack of honour inherent in modern politics incredibly distressing”.

Asked by the BBC if he thinks Mr Johnson’s leadership is past the point of no return, the financier said: “Personally, yes.”

Mr Armitage, the co-founder of hedge fund Egerton Capital, suggested that Mr Johnson’s attempts to change his administration are not enough to win back support.

“What about a sense of personal responsibility? You know ‘I’m going to change my chief of staff and it will all be fine’. Oh, really?” he said.

The BBC reported that Mr Armitage has told the Conservative Party he will not be giving it any more money as things stand, but he plans to remain a member.

He has donated more than £500,000 to the Tories since Mr Johnson became Prime Minister, but he has also given money to Labour, including £12,500 in March.

Johnson will not say if he will quit if fined as Major blasts ‘brazen excuses’

Boris Johnson refused to say whether he will resign if he is fined by police, as former prime minister Sir John Major accused him of having broken lockdown laws.

The Conservative grandee criticised the “brazen excuses” about the events in Downing Street and said Mr Johnson must go if he deliberately lied to Parliament.

The Prime Minister is expected to be among the more than 50 individuals in No 10 and Whitehall who will receive legal questionnaires from officers working on Operation Hillman.

But he deflected questions about whether he will quit if Scotland Yard issues him with a fixed penalty notice over any possible breach of coronavirus regulations.

In a scathing speech at the Institute for Government in London, Sir John said “deliberate lies to Parliament have been fatal to political careers” and “must always be so”.

“At No 10, the Prime Minister and officials broke lockdown laws,” he said.

“Brazen excuses were dreamed up. Day after day the public was asked to believe the unbelievable. Ministers were sent out to defend the indefensible – making themselves look gullible or foolish.

“Collectively, this has made the Government look distinctly shifty, which has consequences that go far beyond political unpopularity. No Government can function properly if its every word is treated with suspicion.”

Sir John, a longstanding critic of Mr Johnson, said trust in politics has hit a “low ebb, eroded by foolish behaviour” while “too often, ministers have been evasive, and the truth has been optional”.

The Prime Minister has already resisted calls to resign, but these are expected to grow louder if he is issued with a fixed penalty notice.

Asked at a press conference with Nato secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg to discuss Russian aggression against Ukraine, the Prime Minister said he would not outline how he will respond until the police investigation concludes.

“That process must be completed and I’m looking forward to it being completed and that’s the time to say more on that,” he told reporters in Brussels.

Pressed a second time, Mr Johnson responded: “I understand but we’re going to wait for the process to be completed.”

Further Conservative MPs are poised to call for a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister if he is fined, or further damaging details emerge from the Sue Gray inquiry.

Scotland Yard said it will be dispatching the questionnaires by the end of the week as officers consider whether to widen the investigation to cover a Christmas quiz in No 10 in December 2020.

Police are reconsidering their decision not to include that event after a photograph emerged of Mr Johnson and colleagues near an open bottle of sparkling wine.
Adam Wagner, a lawyer who has been studying Covid-19 regulations, described the dispatching of questionnaires as “very significant” because it means the police think they are approaching a point where they can start issuing fines.

The human rights barrister told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “It sounds to me, although I haven’t seen the letters, that they’ve decided that relevant gatherings were potentially a breach of the regulations and now they’re asking people ‘Did you have some sort of reasonable excuse?’, which, in law, would effectively be a defence for being there.”

Mr Wagner said a fixed penalty notice is the most likely punishment that would be issued by police as they investigate 12 gatherings.

With Mr Johnson alleged to have been at up to six of them, the lawyer suggested breaches would tot up cumulatively so the Prime Minister “could still be in line for over £10,000 worth of fixed penalty notices if they accumulate”.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace was unclear about whether Mr Johnson will tell the public if he receives a police questionnaire.

“The Prime Minister has said he will be full and transparent. He will notify if he is receiving any form of fine etc but he’s also said he will publish the Sue Gray report in full,” he told Today.

The Cabinet minister said more damaging photos of events could be leaked in the coming days.

“Yes, there could be a photograph tomorrow, the next day or the day after – that’s clearly what’s behind some of the people’s motives,” he told Times Radio.

The Metropolitan Police said the questionnaire will ask for “an account and explanation of the recipient’s participation” in an event which is the subject of police inquiries.

Recipients will be advised that the questionnaire has “formal legal status” and that they are required to respond “truthfully” within seven days.

In most cases the contact will be by email.

“If, following an investigation, officers believe it is appropriate because the Covid regulations have been breached without a reasonable excuse, a fixed penalty notice will normally be issued,” the statement said.

“We understand the interest in and impact of this case, and are progressing the investigation at pace.

“We are committed to completing our investigations proportionately, fairly and impartially.”

An interim report last week by senior official Ms Gray disclosed that police are investigating 12 different events at No 10 and Whitehall over the course of 2020 and 2021 for possible breaches of Covid rules.

They include the notorious “bring your own booze” event in the Downing Street garden in May 2020 attended by Mr Johnson, and a gathering in the Prime Minister’s official flat in November 2020.

The Met said the Operation Hillman team are continuing to examine more than 500 documents and 300 images provided to them by the Cabinet Office and will be seeking further information to assist their inquiry.

The enclosed email I received, shows just how far the Met Police have crawled up Johnson's arse !!!

We are today publishing our Grounds for seeking a judicial review of the Metropolitan Police’s initial refusal to investigate the Downing Street lockdown parties, and the Met’s response. The Met had previously insisted that some contents of these documents be kept confidential, but we are now publishing them.

We can now reveal that the Met had an unpublished policy of not “normally” investigating retrospective breaches. However, where “not investigating… would significantly undermine the legitimacy of the law” that would point towards investigating.

The Met’s decision not to investigate is difficult to understand. It is hard to avoid concluding that the Met decided it didn’t want to investigate, and then scrambled to reverse engineer a justification for this.

Their justification is itself remarkable. It includes reference to the fact that:

    • “Downing Street… have already stated that Covid rules were followed”
    • “anyone who was at the gathering would be entitled to refuse to answer questions because of the privilege against self-incrimination”
    • because the Cabinet Office was looking into possible breaches there was no need for the Met to investigate as well.
These are extraordinary points. They create a different set of laws for those in high office.

The Met would not accept your assurance that you hadn’t committed a crime. It would not refuse to ask you questions because of the privilege against self-incrimination. And it would certainly not decline to investigate you because you had appointed a subordinate to look into the matter instead. Yet these are all allowances gifted to the Government.

Moreover, as the policy itself highlights, some reported breaches of the law potentially undermine the legitimacy of the law itself. It is difficult to imagine a clearer example of this than government officials, potentially including the Prime Minister, breaching the rules.

All of this is profoundly troubling. It points to a Met that does not want to investigate potential criminality in Government, or to a police force that is excessively deferential to those in power. It is a policy that dramatically undermines the rule of law.

Good Law Project is considering whether or not to continue with the judicial review. We wanted the Met to reconsider its decision not to investigate and, after we issued judicial review proceedings, the Met did just that. We believe it is in the public interest to have real transparency over the Met’s decision making, and the publication of those pleadings with this blog serves that transparency.

We will make a final decision shortly.

    Thanks for your support,

Jo Maugham - Good Law Project
