My dreads are a week old tomorrow! Yay! I love it. I looked at pics that I took a week ago and pics that I took today. I think they look so much tighter. I've been worried that they're falling apart but from the looks of it they look better, so I guess not.

This pic was taken Friday night:

    And this was taken today

This one I took and then played with photoshop a bit. I love it. Thinking of including it in my sig.

*hugs* Thanks hon. I made them small because I thought that if they were too big then it wouldn't look right. I have thin hair so I thought small would be best. lol It seems to be getting better, but it's also giving me some concerns.

My biggest problem is that I also have naturally silky hair. I didn't realize this until I started dreading because my hair is never managable. lol So, I feel like I'm constantly reknoting my hair. Any tips? I don't have the energy atm to sit here backcombing every day (exhausted...baby is due in a week). I've considered just letting it do it's own thing. But, I'm afraid that it'll just look messy instead of dready. lol

    *hugs*

I wish I did, my hair is like this and if I wanted to keep at it I'd have to backcomb everday... my ends are unknotted on the bottom... prob a couple inches up. I am just letting them go do it on their own... Little dreadies are great, I think they are so cute. I did mine on the smaller side too... now they seem thicker though...

Those do look good for how young they are-but I think mine also looked alot better the first few weeks after I had backcombed em, but now that they are starting to lock up much more they are startin to look crazier...But like Eryn said they will work themselves out. I also am just kinda letting em do their own thing.

    HAPPY DREADING

*hugs* Thanks guys. Do you think they're too small though? I made a post about this last night I think. I've been wondering if I should make them bigger but I don't want to redo everything. ROFL

no because they are new and your hair is short. If you keep them smaller they will get thicker as they get older soooo... by the time they are a pretty long length down your back I bet a bunch will have connected and def. gotten fatter due to all the hairs. Your head won't be too heavy then. :) I've always been worried about my dreadlocks getting thick w/ my bad back, so I always think (for me at least) starting out on the smaller side is best so they can reach a really long length before they could potentially cause a lot of weight pressure on me... I don't know what I'd do if that happened... hmmm... get a wheelchair or cut 'em? Hey anyone know how much a jazzy costs? lmao

    *hugs* Thanks hon.

I've heard of people trimming their dreads before, to keep them a certain length. Maybe if it starts to hurt your back you can do that?

    *hugs*
