  6. I’m sensing a shift of opinion in the US. A week ago there was mostly strong opposition to any military action. Now I’m hearing more strong opinion for and against. I’m always leery of any politician that’s hawkish for action, because so many of them are in the pockets of the military industrial complex.

It’s frustrating to see some of those Russian formations just sitting there. We could take out that 40 mile convoy with A-10’s and fighter support in no time.

Putin sees Biden as weak and indecisive, and he’s just going to keep pushing the limits.

The problem I see , If the West just responds all of the time ,it comes across as weak and everything is on Putins terms .

If the West strikes first and makes a mess of it you risk all out war and Nukes for sure .

Joe Biden is between a rock and a hard place on this and I wouldnt want to be in his shoes .

I still think the best bet is to ride this one out. Let the sanctions do their work as they do take time. These should have been implemented when forces were being built up on Ukraine's border . I think it would be better for Ukraine when this turns into a Guerrilla war as it would just erode Russia's resources coupled with not getting hands on funds to replace losses or pay for the occupation .For this to work the West needs to get hold of Ukraine's banking assets before they get into Russian hands . Dialogue may be needed to get that agreed with the Ukrainians.

  8. It’s a mess for sure. China is the big unknown. If they work with Russia in underhanded financial deals and assistance it will prolong their war effort. Then Putin has nightmare of keeping 40 million people that will hate you for generations under control.

China is a funny one. Its a Communist State but with Western Traits . It has too many trade deals around the world to get caught up in something messy .

Russia will be the new Northern Korea with a messy occupation to pay for and control .

You could well be right there Captain.

    But God.
The war has only been going around a week and a half, and just for starters the war itself is getting very messy and heartbreaking for the people of Ukraine.

On television there are constant photographs of Putin bombing using aircraft and sending missiles and cluster bombs and God knows what as he grinds remorselessly on to Kiev.

On the ground in Kyiv: Citizens flee as Russia bombs the city
Ukrainians fled burning buildings, helped neighbors and watched firefighters flight blazes caused by Russian missiles.

  16. The Ukrainian pilots will just fly them in from Poland. They currently fly the older MIG, so training shouldn’t be an issue. The US will backfill Poland with newer US fighters which will benefit them also. Should be a win - win if they can work out the details.
