Jan. 6 Plea Hearing Goes Awry After Indiana Man Says Police Gave 'Thumbs Up' as He and Mom Entered Capitol

    excerpt:

"Early on in the hearing, Vo showed signs that he might not have been totally prepared to enter a guilty plea.

During Chutkan’s colloquy with Vo to determine whether he understood the potential consequences of entering a guilty plea, Vo asked Chutkan for the definition of “parading.” At that point, Chutkan immediately announced a brief recess so that Vo and Jacob could speak privately.

Later, after everyone had come back on the record, Vo mistook the Statement of Facts, used in support of the arrest warrant affidavit, with the Statement of Offense, which outlines the actions to which Vo was pleading guilty.

In addition to parading and picketing in the Capitol, Vo was charged with disorderly conduct and entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds."

I think there were more people at Putin’s rally than trump’s. Trump should pay Russians to come to his next rally.

Trump was gullible for believing Putin's rhetoric.

Trump still won't criticize Putin's 'peace force'.

It's supposedly Biden's fault that Putin invaded Ukraine because he was allegedly (using Trump's word) 'driven' to do it, supposedly because he doesn't respect Biden.

Trump praises ‘genius’ Putin for moving troops to eastern Ukraine

    excerpt:

"Trump said he saw the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis on TV “and I said: ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine … Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful.”

The former US president said that the Russian president had made a “smart move” by sending “the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen” to the area."

Ex-cop involved in Trump's riot pleads guilty to a felony.

Ex-Cop Who Was Fired After Breaching Capitol with Platoon Sergeant on Jan. 6 Pleads Guilty, Will Cooperate with Feds

    excerpt:

"A former Virginia police officer who was fired for allegedly storming the Capitol on Jan. 6 with his platoon sergeant has pleaded guilty to a felony and will cooperate with prosecutors.

Jacob Fracker, 30, formerly a K9 unit officer with the Rocky Mount Police Department in Virginia, was accused of traveling to Washington with his platoon sergeant Thomas Robertson. Once there, the duo allegedly joined the mob which headed to the Capitol after Donald Trump‘s so-called “Stop the Steal” rally.

Fracker pleaded guilty; Robertson’s case is scheduled to go to trial April 4."

Trump’s Campaign Was Ordered To Pay $350,000 For Trying To Enforce An “Unenforceable” Nondisclosure Agreement

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON — Former president Donald Trump’s campaign organization was ordered to pay more than $350,000 in legal fees and expenses for trying to enforce an “unenforceable” nondisclosure agreement against former staffer Alva Johnson, according to an order entered this month in a nonpublic arbitration case.

The March 10 order, which was made public this week by Johnson’s attorneys, was the latest setback for the Trump campaign in its effort to use NDAs to try to punish former staffers who publicly criticize or take legal action against Trump. An arbitrator found that even though Johnson’s effort to sue Trump failed — she accused him of trying to forcibly kiss her and raised pay discrimination claims, but the case was tossed out — the campaign couldn’t invoke a legally unsound nondisclosure agreement."

    Beware Bill Barr

    excerpts:

"One of the mysteries of Bill Barr’s long life is how he went from a mostly uncontroversial Republican lawyer in the earlier part of his career to the staunch partisan that he is today. He has been on a press run in service of his 565-page memoir, One Damn Thing After Another, which mostly focuses on his tenure as Donald Trump’s second attorney general, and despite numerous sit-downs with Fox News, NBC News, CNN, and NPR, a publicity blitz that has resulted in the book debuting at No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list, that mystery remains largely intact.

The television-interview format has suited Barr well, allowing him to run circles around generalist news anchors with limited time for questioning while generating a slew of headlines based on their occasional shock at his answers. Perhaps most notable has been Barr’s insistence that he would vote to reelect Trump in 2024 if the former president is the Republican Party’s nominee, despite describing him in the book as having become “manic and unreasonable” and going “off the rails” after losing in 2020."

"Barr’s book suggests that his interests align largely with the concerns that are commonly aired in the right-wing-media ecosystem that is anchored by Fox News — one in which local controversies about school curricula receive national attention and are woven into a broader narrative of terminal cultural decline and conservatives fulminate about a conspiracy among “the media, Big Tech, and the coastal elites” to destroy Republicans, in Barr’s own words."

That phenomenon seems to happen to many people.

As they approach their retirement years, they become increasingly opinionated, ideological, and even irrational.

    (Barr, Lindell, Flynn, Giuliani, Trump)

The fact that so many people have sacrificed their careers and a few, their lives, says something about the state of society today. They see Trump as some kind of Messiah who will solve all their problems if he can achieve dictatorial power. They believe in him because they blame all their problems on immigration and heathenistic liberal policies and he has vowed to restore American values and return White Christians to power before Brown people have a chance to become the majority.

Gibbons and Mandel have a Trumpian heated exchange during a debate.

Both are vying for the U.S. Senate seat in Ohio vacated by the retiring Portman.

Trump hasn't endorsed anyone in the Ohio U.S. Senate race.

    Josh Mandel - Wikipedia

    excerpt:

"On March 18, 2021, Mandel was suspended from Twitter for 12 hours for creating a poll about which type of "illegals" would commit more crimes, "Muslim Terrorists" or "Mexican Gangbangers." Mandel called the suspension censorship.[77]

In May 2021, multiple fundraisers left the Mandel campaign, citing a "toxic work atmosphere" including being berated publicly by the campaign's financial director.[78]

In October 2021, posting on a far-right conservative website, Mandel claimed that Jewish financier George Soros and the Deep State were responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic, the Black Lives Matter, Antifa and pro-Trumpist assault on Capitol Hill demonstrations and riots.[79]"

Josh Mandel has been described as Trump 2.0 after he underwent his transformation.

Josh Mandel Could Be Ohio’s Next Senator. So What Does He Believe?

    excerpt:

"He doesn’t act the way he used to act, and he doesn’t talk the way he used to talk, say so many Democrats and Republicans alike. And they’re right. He used to present as more moderate, used to preach bipartisanship and diversity and civility, and no longer does. Perhaps most importantly, he once was conspicuously unsupportive of Trump, and now he has publicly pivoted to full-fledged MAGA. Who, they wonder, is he really? In the end, though, that elemental, sometimes poignant question that has coursed through so many of my conversations about Mandel is actually a question about the identity of the Republican Party writ large. He was, after all, considered for so long such a formidable and promising prospect — a Marine, a combat veteran, the grandson of a Holocaust survivor and a World War II soldier, a proven, prodigious fundraiser and a Republican who earned the votes of Democrats in the suburbs in a place where that was what was needed to win. Mandel, they all thought, was a big part of the future of the GOP. And they might still be right. The future’s just not what they thought it would be."

Josh Mandel Could Be Ohio’s Next Senator. So What Does He Believe?

    excerpt:

"This was no exception to a rule. Unlike 10 or 12 years back, when scurrilous tactics led to some public contrition, such ad hominem attacks now are a key component of his campaign. In the more than a year since Mandel launched his third run for the Senate, anchored by “Faith & Freedom” rallies at church after church, he’s gotten himself temporarily booted from Twitter for his crass and bigoted posts. He’s called Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, members of Congress, “terrorist spokesmen.” He’s called congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “a pollutant.” He’s called family members of Martin Luther King Jr. “race politics profiteers,” “lapdogs” and “charlatans.” He’s gone to Arizona to be seen outside the politically motivated audit of the 2020 election and has been an outspoken proponent of the lie that Trump won. He’s compared Afghan refugees to “alligators.” He’s said the founding fathers would have “tarred and feathered” Anthony Fauci. He’s gone to New York to stand inside a Cheesecake Factory to denounce vaccine mandates. He’s gotten himself kicked out of a school board meeting in suburban Cincinnati. He’s lit a mask on fire at the bottom of a stairwell with his back against a wall. He, the grandson of a Holocaust survivor, has likened the federal government to the Gestapo. “Now,” he has taken to saying, “is not the time for civility.”"

Josh Mandel Could Be Ohio’s Next Senator. So What Does He Believe?

    excerpt:

“The Trump phenomenon makes it easy for people who don’t have any conscience, or their conscience is one of convenience, to seek the new reality,” said Dennis Eckart, the longtime Ohio Democratic strategist. “And if you have high name ID, and you have no qualms about becoming whatever it is you need to be, it’s a natural time for someone like Josh Mandel.”
