I've always wondered about him. How the hell does he levitate? I beleive that there is no trick to it, and he actually is levitating, is he? or is it some kind of optical illusion? Also his tiricks are very mind boggeling, I have no explanation for any of it, there for I beleive that he is so spritually intact the things that he does are real. Does anyone think his tricks are real? did anyone see on the carson daily show when he ripped his heart out, and then passed out? that was pretty eerie
Are his tricks real? Well they are real tricks if that's what you mean. He's not actually doing magic. Might as well ask if WWF is real, or if Jenna Jameson's boobs are real.
I saw the show where he levitated. verystrange. Coolest wsa ppl's reactions. He has a book called Mysterious Stranger and gives some card secrets away, but i don't think we'll ever know how the heck he levitated.
The Levitation Thing Is The Angle Of The Camera And Stuff, I Saw Something On It Which Is Very Clever, But Very Basic. That Whole Street Act Thing Only Works In America Where You Get Random People Going "oh My God" And Running Around. Here In England We Would Just Be Like Hmmmm Interesting. Thats Why The Street Stuff Done Over Here Is Often Very Silly On Tv!
You are serious. All righty then. When I saw David Copperfield pick up a young lady out of the crowd and fly around the arena, live, the whole 'camera angle theory' became pretty old. If it is so basic, why have I seen two people in my whole life do it? Can you? I actually give those people who were standing five feet away from him a bit more credit. They seemed quite bright, to me. Certainly not so blind that they would miss the point of his feet never leaving the ground. Or maybe it is a conspiracy, or they were actually really stupid, and just appeared normal. In the three shows I attended, Copperfield sure made me feel dumb. But I know that I am in the minority, most seem to be certain that its all just 'very basic'. How could I be so stupid...and three times....I need to go back to university.
the levitation ones from david blaine always show someone watching from a distance then the camera turning in between them and david rising for a second then coming down. As with all magic its trick, the people may be in on it, they may have been too far away. If someone tells you they are going to levitate and has just shocked you with other stuff you are going to believe it more. i don't fully know how it works. all i know is it is a very basic trick. magicians know how to do it, but they never copy each other cos its pointless. david copperfield has a huge budget and does an amazing stage theatre thing. david blaines stage is the street so everything is low key so you think there isn't anywhere to hide the strings etc....no trick is easy, if it was we would all do them. david is a magician who has perfected that trick well.
have you seen his dvd? i liked the one were he took the homeless guys coffee and turned it into a cup full of change....or when he found that dead bird and brought it to life....mind boggleing stuff. another crazy trick was when he took that live chicken...ripped its head off...then put it back on and let the chicken move along its way.
I believe the magic he does is real. I believe like someone else here said, that he is so intune with with himself and his surroundings that it is possible. Anything is possible.
I saw it twice. He explains some of his tricks in that book i mentioned (mysterious strange)r (which i was fortunate to get another copy of today. if anyhone wants to borrow or trade something for it, pm me!). But nothing could explain him slowly goin up into the air from a standing still position and hhhhooooovering for a couple seconds. unbelievvvvvvvvvvvve!
i am a david blaine fan, but only because he is a master of the sleight of hand. nothing he does is supernatural, including the levitation trick. the levitation is a very basic trick where the magician stands at an appropriate angle and lifts his left foot straight up in the air a couple of inches, while standing on his tippy toes with his right foot--the left foot blocks the toes of the right foot from being seen by the spectator, thus creating the illusion that the man is levitating. this is the trick that blaine did to garner the reactions. as for the amazing two feet high levitations that were shown on tv, you'll notice that it is shot with different film--it is purely special effects that abc decided to add in order to boost ratings for what would have otherwise been an hourlong show on cardtricks. still, he has mastered some of the most difficult card illusions in the world, and i really appreciate his new endurance feats, like standing on the tall pole in new york for however long it was, or going all that time without food in london. i'm anxious to see what he tries next--maybe he'll try to hold his breath for a week. and i agree that mysterious stranger is a fantatic read.
yeah...it was hilarious, and also a bit scary, considering the fact that a large number of people truly are convinced that he has godly powers.
I've seen the dvd, the chicken thing is fake. He has a fake head, and tucks the chicken's head under it's wings. He is awesome though, I watched that dvd on mushrooms once, it was mind boggling.
The one that stuck in my head was when he asked a women to pick a card and then threw the deck at a glass window and the card she picked was stuck to the inside of the window as they were outside. That I could not figure out for the life of me how he did that.
And I believe in underpants gnomes, magic leprechauns, and the honesty and intergrity of the Republican party. This is just plain pathetic here. David Blaine himself doesn't even make the claim that he is doing honest to goodness "real" magic. Please, use your brain and think about this. Daivid Blaine is a performer who puts on shows for purposes of entertainment. His performances are basically the same as houdini's performances in this regard. Thousands of people were convinced that Houdini had supernatural powers. Houdini himself was adamantly opposed to this notion. David Blaine can be regarded similarly. He is fantastically talented at performing slight-of-hand tricks and in using TV special effects, that is all. He has no magic powers.
