    in topeka, ks.

the vote is really close. imagine that....... you could be fired from your job if your boss found out that you were gay, and it would be legal for them to do so. now reverand phelps and his gang will have a field day with that. they could picket any funeral or large gathering and not be arrested for having signs about gays going to hell and god hating fags and stuff.... crazy!

that's... really really sad. I mean honestly, how does someone else being homosexual affect you? It doesn't! Maybe you feel like it's your job to save souls and convert people to Christianity, but screaming about how people are going to hell ain't gonna do the trick.

If someone did that to a family member of mine who had passed on, I would sue the bastards.

it would be hard to sue them. reverend phelps's family is full of lawyers. they have the first amendment backing them.

Can't you sue for pain and suffering, or for defamation though? I rather imagine some hysterical man screaming about how your family is going to hell would cause pain and suffering, particularly when you're already dealing with the passing-on of that family member.

you would think, but it would take alot of money to sue him. it wont take him anything to go to court, because his kids are all lawyers.

I was reading awhile back something like that in the Advocate Magazine in regards to some type of rally for the anniversary of the death of Matthew Sheapard (sp?). Something about the park he was murdered in only they wanted to use his non declared 'hate crime' as an example to others of God's Wrath on Homosexuals, like he deserved what happened :(

As if the world needs more on-the-books legislation to endorse hate! Kansas is not noted as the most tolerant or progressive state in the union. Can't imagine what it must be like to be a college student there :(

Sad....and hypocritical. According to the christian faith, final judgement is God's. Who the hell are we do discriminate against gays? Who cares?!?! I think gay people are splendid, and I people who have problems with them are just SCARED!!!!!! SCARED of someone being different.

I still don't see how being gay can affect how well he/she does her/his job. In my opinion, as long as stuff you do outside of work isn't affecting how you do your job, I don't see hte problem. It's kinda like smoking, right, Ryan? *winks*
