Is it Normal or OK to consider yourself “Too Busy” for calls and texts?

Discussion in 'People' started by Xboxoneandsports32490, Feb 17, 2022.

  1. The worse for me is parents who are more interested in their phone than their children. There is no interaction, there is no dialogue, there is no interest shown. I am truly appalled! I was in a hotel restaurant a few years ago and it seemed to be normal practice to set the child up with a tablet with animation on before the food came!
Not a world I recognize or want any part of. Real conversation and interaction has to be upkept or we as a society no longer exist.

Thats not the worst of it etherea darlin', I've seen parents with their heads buried deep inside their 'smart' phones in a restaurant whilst allowing their unsupervised children to run riot inside the restaurant, getting under the feet of waiters and waitresses carrying hot food and drink.

  3. None of it is acceptable!

I totally concur etherea darlin' - whilst observing this, my fingers itched as I was waiting for these evil little scroats to come anywhere near me, they'd be walking away back to their parents table wearing a 'thick ear' !!!

It maybe now, but it wasn't when I was growing up, and I'd happily defend myself in court and explain to the Magistrate why I did it. Some Magistrates are sympathetic , although constrained by the law. My Mother (the Dragon) also became a Magistrate.

  7. Given the culture right now, you would probably be sued by parents and well!

Personally, I can't stand talking on the phone. I prefer to be face to face with the person. I just may not in mood or am dealing with school, life and, family. Sometimes I just don't want to talk -- then again I just don't answer or I'll send a text, "hey I'm not in the best mood today".

With saying that, I do get where you're coming from. Sometimes you want talk and catch up with your friend. Stay updated. You just want keep that friendship strong and running, Them being "busy" all the time can be annoying. It could also feel like they are avoiding you on purpose. Honestly, the next time you give them a call, be open about the situation. Let them know how you're feeling about the current state of your friendship. Whether they want to continue it or not. You never know they may actually be really busy or it could be deeper than that. Just ask them.

Haha It's funny because I use to be all for smartphones. Since the pandemic I've come to dislike them and social media as whole. I prefer to spend time with people in person -- going out and growing plants. It's quite ironic really. I guess I'm just growing to appreciate being around people

I'm sorry that happened to you. I know that Lock down was a very stressful situation. I know for me it had a huge negative affect on my mental health. So I can only imagine how frustrating and stressful it was for you

Riza darlin' - I'm mentally strong enough to withstand the lockdown, but I have a number of health issues - arthritis being just one. The Arthritis has spread from my (metal) hips into my lower spine. For the past four years I have been getting my back massaged to alleviate some of the pain. Obviously during lock-down everything came to a halt and as I said, I was 'shielded' for 14 months, I was in absolute agony !!!
