I traveled across Canada in 1970. Camped and also stayed in houses that I think were made available by the government. Great trip and very friendly and welcoming people.
That Maple Leaf is starting to look a lot like the freedom flag to those of us South of 49 trying to carry on in the never ending post trumpian fascist evangelical nightmare.
Yeah, Canadians are such wonderful people. And they hate being compared to Americans. I couldn't agree with them more (even as an American)! They're civilized, they're law-abiding, they're decent, by their own admission, they're not flag-wavers. I could go on and on. And they think the US government is encroaching sometimes on their national sovereignty. That is very wrong. But I have to tell my Canadian friends out there, something you should know. Most Americans aren't even aware of this. But if you could educate more Americans, and get them involved, they (the Americans) could complain to their representatives in Washington. And believe me, something then would be done about it. The USA is not a plutocracy per se, or at least not yet. We're kind of a mixed political scape that way. But we still have some influence over our politicians. So try it, it just might work .
