Ya know what I really appreciate that video because it makes me think. I don’t know when they made it but those prices for most things they mentioned are about the same pre covid here. Somethings like the shrimp are about the same. They paid I think $25 for 2 lbs shrimp and a 7 oz mahi filet (never had). At my grocery store I pay $22-23 for 2 lbs raw shrimp. I’m priced out of steak. It was a little more December 2020 at $12 for 2 8 oz sirloins theirs was $10 I think. I haven’t even looked in a year it had doubled by this time last year. Even ground chuck hamburger is crazy money. I don’t buy chicken anymore either except chicken nuggies lol except occasionally I’ll roast a couple Cornish hens which are about 2 for $12-14. I used to buy thighs I don’t even do that anymore. I don’t really care for white meat. I made a duck on new year’s and that was almost $30.
Yea absolutely. My friend grew up with his dad collecting what would be lower middle class pension in America. In Honduras in the 70’s - 90’s they lived in a palace and their next door neighbor was the president. It looks like now it wouldn’t go anywhere near as far as then.
On all the grocery shelves in above pictures, the shelf was neat and organized, don't remember seeing that for a long time if ever. Maybe a new store opening for first time?
Several countries in Latin America are actually very cheap. Very cheap for those who come from outside with Euros or Dollars; not for those of us who live and work in them. The best example is maybe Cuba. One might ask: How can they live on a salary of 10/15 dollars per month? The answer is because things are worth very little there. So the question should go on the side of the purchasing power of its population and not so much on the real value of the products.
The pundits claim that Thatcher's (phth, phth, phth) clone, Liz Truss will win the election, so its highly unlikely she will even address any of the problems.
There are cost-effective solutions to problems throughout the world, and the key is to researching and finding them out. I have read an article of westerners preferring to have hair transplants in Turkey due to the much lower costs and quality expertise available, and many have done the same without issues.

life? i'm seeing nothing besides shopping, mostly grocery shopping at that, and comparing prices. much as i enjoy buying my own food and making my own meals, when i think of life i think of places, landscapes, and also how considerate people treat each other. as doug adam's arthur dent was prone to say, its not the little green pieces of paper that are unhappy. not that i have anything to add, besides that some places technology is cheaper then food and some places the reverse. and then there's land, tools, building materials, all varying in price somewhat independently of each other. so that looking at just one sector, doesn't really give a balanced picture of overall cost vs quality of a place.
