I know this picture may not look like Autumn to you, but it does to me!

That is because the beach is empty, it is off season. No paddleboarders, no kids playing in the water. It is so quiet, you can hear yourself think

 

That's the catch my friend!

Even Christie Walton (rishest woman in the world at one time) could not buy her own beach here. It is in the Mexican constitution that no foreigner can own land within 75 miles of the coast, and then only after passing strict requirements and regulations and much cash being paid. The loophole is that you can "buy" a property by getting a bank to "own" it for you... it's a complicated legal arrangement indeed. You can never really own the land, and it can be taken from you any time the government decide to.. and it has happened up north in Baja where an entire community of ex-pats was retaken because there was no clear title to the land... besides the question of a title comes into mind here also... so much of the land was squatted originally by peasants there is no paperwork of any kind.

How's that for a simple explanation?
