They obviously didn't awake with the desire to become addicted, but it's easy to not to become a habitual user. Just don't do it often. Is this a hard concept to understand? Heroin is about as addictive as nicotine, and am I going to become addicted to cigarettes if I smoke one a week? No, I certainly won't, and I certainly wouldn't become addicted to smack if used in two-week intervals. Not that it matters, I haven't used in months, but I fail to see how avoiding addiction is "difficult" if used responsibly.
And for the record, if you haven't used heroin then your opinion of it is considerably less valuable than those who have. When I first used it, I thought it would immerse me in a world of paralyzed pleasure. It did induce an unparalleled state of relaxation, but it also made me want to interact with people; I wouldn't stop talking. Once, actually the last time I used, was about 5 or 6 months ago. I snorted a stamp and walked to work. I felt incredible. I wanted to greet everyone I met, to shake their hand, to wish them a happy rest of the day. It had almost the opposite effect than what I anticipated.
Stupidity is the biggest danger to our society, not hard drugs.

are you fucking insane? you think junkies, choose to be junkies, or are irresponsible, you think youre bigger than the world? try getting info about how addictive, controling, and dehumanizing heroin can be from someone other than the people who are selling dope. you seem close to ending your chances of ever having a productive or happy moment.

You have most certainly missed my point. My point is, I have informed myself, through online reading and personal experience. Junkies are irresponsible. And considering heroin has occupied only the smallest facet of my past, I fail to see how my happiness is in jeoprody because of it.

Heroin is stupid... I have lost alot of friends to that drug... Your stupid if you do it... Why do an addictive drug.. .to find out you like and then become an addict... Or find out you dont like and never touch it again.... either way its stupid

"junkies" aren't irresponsible.. those who DO heroin and put themselves in the position to chance addiction or OD are irresponsible...

So far the only reason you people think heroin is stupid is because you can become addicted and you can overdose. So why should responsible, properly educated users be labeled as such? There are plenty who have used heroin and have not experienced the ill-effects of the drug.
You can crash and die in a car, but is driving stupid? No, but if you were driving impared then that makes you an irresponsible motorist and deserve whatever consequences occur. Likewise, if you use heroin habitually enough to become addicted, you deserve the consequences.
Did someone pin you down and inject H into you? No? Oh, you did it yourself? So how could it be heroin's fault?
I have faith in humanity, though I have no reason to, to properly educate themselves before engaging in any potentially harmful activity. Heroin carries a heavy stigma. I harbored views similar to all of yours prior to trying it. I thought all users were depraved, but it wasn't until I read enough about it and eventually experienced it that I realized it was my decision whether or not I used again, not the drug's.

Did you just ignore my posts? It does cause ireversible brain damage. Although I would support your right to use heroin, I could never recommend such a useless and harmfull thing.

i think you should try it bc thats what drugs are about trying things your curious about and learning everything you can about yourself and the world and other people and just culture in general- but do it around people you are cool with and in a place comfortable for you- also dont do it intravaneously- go to the gooddrugguide.com they have amazing information and they arent judgemental

on second thought, go right ahead. the gene pool needs cleaning anyways.

and being such a responsible user, make sure your friends & family know to not let you have access to their money or valuables.

Go right ahead with what exactly? Using? Heroin is great, it's not my drug of choice by far, but it's great. I'm not addicted to it, never was, and since I don't really have plans to obtain any anytime soon I think I'll be ok. You, on the other hand, are free to die in a fire.

You can be an addict without being a junkie.... Most heroin users i know are addicts.. they live normal lives, have jobs, the hole shabang but they are wastes of human flesh crancky ass people.. True not all people become addicts.. but why hasnt someone asked this 17 year old what his family is like... Mine 3 of out 4 people have an addiction. Lets see for me Addiction to any substance is HIGH... I have a gambling problem... suprise!!! Its an inheritated trait... That doesnt mean if someone if your family has a problem with addiction you will... your chances are just a billion time higher than those who dont have addiction problems in the family... So its not just..

I dont want to be a addict... i wont be.... Not that simple

Yes, this is true. Some are hereditarily more inclined to become addicted to certain acts/substances. But it still lies within that person's responsibility to know enough about themselves to know what they can and can't engage in. Which is exactly why I think it's horrid for those still in high school to be experimenting with drugs of any kind.

Yes, I do have a high chance of becoming a addict and I know that. All of my uncles were addicted to something, one was a heroin addict, one I dont know what he did but he was drunk and high on something and drove off a cliff and drown in the mudd, my other uncle I dont know much about but im sure he has been addicted to something, well my dad has been addicted to coke and meth I am sure of and both were life ruining addictions, but he has always seemed to life a normal life when he was. I have been in the verge of addiction before but stoped doing it all together when I even got into deep addiction like alot of my very close friends have, opiate mainly. Wether you think it or not I consider my self to have very good self control and know my limitations. And yes I am still in high school but I do not act like a normal 17 year old with the way I was brought up. I have been doing drugs for years and have done just about every drug there is cept heroin. Beleive what you want I guess and just lecture me some more if you want.

I've used dumb and useless drugs in the past, even opiates. But none that would cause definite health problems. Thats what I don't understand about heroin. Is it really worth the damage that you do to your body? I mean this is a definite damage, every dose does destroy parts of your brain....

    /don't get it

The articles you linked only mentioned smoking heroin as a cause of such brain damage. No one I know has or would smoke it, so it is a moot point.

wow, such hate in this thread "you die in a fire"
"your worthless" (exageration, but i heard it)
let people do what they want! i wouldnt recomend ANYONE to try heroin. i know that i used it everyday for a month and went right off it, used in intervals, started again, stopped, and i havent used since the school year started (i dont think) but i was never addicted. i liked it a whole bunch, but never got addicted! i saw one friend get locked up, one friend lose everything, one girl OD'd all types of fucked up shit happened.
yes, it isnt the greatest habbit to have... but its not IMPOSSIBLE to use it occassionally! and dont even start with that "see you in the obituary" bullshit. im here to stay, just to piss everyone off!
    hahahahahahahahaha. long live the junkie!

goddamn if you take me serious your a sad sad person.
