Pretending to be gay??

I have no idea what to think about this guy. He says he's gay and that's cool with me. I've tried to hook him up with other gay guys i know that were single and he always said they weren't his type. So I asked if he wanted to go to a gay bar to meet someone. again the answer was no.

I went to his friends house (for the first time bacause I don't like the shit they pull in the house they hang out with) and when he showed up all these girls started to run towards him and hang off him. he hugged and kissed and I swear that he got hard.

Anyway, one of the guys there said "Isn't that disgusting? No one did that before he announced he was gay. He told all those girls that he wanted someone to be his "grace" (from will and grace) and he gets a lot of attention now"

I thought he was just jealous, but last week he said something about "faggots" and there was 2 gay guys in TV and he made a comment about it being gross.

I'm confused. Could he just be dealing with the harsh reality of being gay and having a hard time, or does it sound like he is faking it to get attention?

He's lied about important stuff before to get attention so it's in his nature, but I would NEVER think anyone would lie about something like that.

It sounds like:

1) He's not come to terms with his own sexuality.

2) He's very immature.

3) He might be some odd version of bisexual, like only attracted to MTF's. I myself am very attracted to men, womyn, MTF's, and FTM's, and a lot of my own fantasies revolve around being with FTM's as opposed to bio men. A lot of men also hae issues with admitting bisexuality as bisexuals are often rejected within the gay community.

4) A lot of gay men feel obligated to become involved with heterosexual flirting. This never made sense to me.

BTW, if he is faking this, he deserves shunning. That's a really shitty thing to do for attention to those of us who really have struggled with being in a sexual minority.

 

that's why it doesn't make sense. It's a hrad thing to deal with, why would anyone fake it? A lot of my friends share the same opinion now that I said something.

Those gay guys who hang out with women all the time just annoy me. It's just the most blatant exercise in self-pity ever; they'd rather hang out with single girls and whine about being single with them than actually get their shit together. I wouldn't read too into him not liking the gay guys you've found him either; I pissed my mates off the same way, and it's not because I had any sexuality issues, I just didn't see any reason not to be picky (I was beginning to realise I wasn't hideous at this point), plus their taste in gay men was awful. I still find about 90% of gay guys really unnattractive, and this pisses them off because they're used to people being desperate enough to jump into bed with anything.

Most gay guys are prone to hanging out with women because they're more compatible with them...I sure am, and believe me, it's no factor of gaining self-pity.

#1) Bullshit! I don't believe that for a second. If the guy claims to be straight yet gives you a blowjob, there's no friggin' way he can be straight.

#2) Indeed, there ARE straight guys in the gay porn industry, but if you look very carefully, you'll notice that a) they never suck dick on camera and b) when they fuck, they always fuck with their eyes firmly shut. A) You're wrong on this account. Most of the straight guys in gay porn HAVE sucked dick. at least that's what my porn acting acquaintance tells me. And he's in the biz. Granted, the straight ones might be more apt to be on the giving side rather than the receiving when it comes to anal sex. My porno friend also informed me of that as well.

Just to update you kynd people, I was right. He is now fucking some girl and living with her. The gay thing WAS all an act.

That really pissed me off. I dont' know why. But I feel like, it's liek pretending to be black or something (not that you can pretend, but you know what I mean). It's a really hard thing to be gay, there are issues and emotions that people just have no clue about. Why would someone want to subject themselves to ridicule just to get attention?

I don't know, I just really lost respect for the guy.

Have any of you ever met anyone who pretended to be gay? Why did they do that?

 

My answer is if it's ok for millions of people to pretend to be straight, why is it bad for a straight guy to pretend to be gay ?

I don't approve of either, but I like to know the reasons...and I can think of many reasons why a guy would claim to be gay other than just getting attention:

A) We have this warped concept of what being gay is. And many guys out there think that if they've had one homoerotic fantasy, or one gay experience with a neighbor at 13 that it makes them a "fag". It's all about race purity: one drop makes you gay! Of course it's ridiculous, but how many believe that if a straight guy has done anything gay they can't be straight anymore?... so it could be that your friend has had a past experience you don't know about that made him feel that way.

B) As others pointed, gayness/bisexuality is a bit cooler than it was in the past, at least on TV. And it's a fact that teens will do anything to be accepted. If they're part of a group where everyone says they're gay or bi they'll claim to be at least "curious" so they do not stick out too much.

c) Kids who are excluded from the popular cliques, may feel a sense of identification to the gay movement because it's also outside of the norm and "different". That appeal cannot be underestimated. So claiming to be gay for those becomes an act of rebellion and a rejection of the heterosexist ideal. Yes, they may date the opposite sex only but they'll refuse to uphold 'heterosexual exclusivity' and continue to leave the door open for a "maybe". They may also redefine rules within their relationship so they remain different from the heterosexual ideal.
