well, i just had a meeting with my pastor and those of you who know about the recnet events...i blew it! i didnt mention the solstice at all and i acted all wimpy and rubbish. am very annoyed with myself but i just couldnt muster up the courage to stand up for myself!

i started off ok, he repeated what he said last week about how i need to leave after my next project (which means losing jo, wages and house end of july) and i went "well actually im looking forward to it! im moving in with some friends until university..."

i went on to explain to him what my plans are and he wasnt happy...he acted like i was running off with the circuse or something...altho come to think of it , hes not far wrong :p
but yehh he didnt react well and so i sharnk back within myself and lost all boldness...i then couldnt bring up the solstice out of fear hed go "raaaa" at me and i dont want to cry in front of him. rags. i so wanted to go but now it looks like the final decision has been made.

    sorry guys

    love a rubbishy luchi xx

Yeah, he's a bully and that's what he's depending on. Ask yourself.... would Jesus try and stop you going? Maybe put that question to your pastor.....

If that was the case, and it wasn't about power and control, then he'd make that argument and then leave you to decide. As it is, he's trying to impose his opinion onto you.

    Be brrrrrrrave!

(I think about *here* is a good time to say that I can only guess at what's going on from your post...but I'm typing anyway...hmn)

If it's something that you really want to do, then you have to pluck up the courage to stand up for yourself. Concentrate less on what other people's reactions are going to be, and more on what you want to say and why you want to say it. Nobody can fault you for standing up for something you believe in, particularly a follower of a faith.

Is it harming anyone to go? I know you said that you're expected to be doing something else, but on a scale of 1-10, how important is it?

I hope it all works out.

    xx

Don't give yourself a hard time over it, but also, it is something that you need to learn to do. Not standing up is surrendering to your fear and giving the other person power over you. You can stand up to someone in different ways..... you don't need to argue with him, you can just turn your back and say "I'm done with this conversation. You're not listening" and walk away. But you do need to stand up to him in some form in order to take back the power in the relationship.

Just remember, religion is a personall experiance. Its something that is within you. And your god blessed you (if im correct in my rememberings of the teaching of the bible) with something he blessed no other creature on earth with, choise. The ability to make a choise, and the right to make one too. He let you choose to see him. As he lets you chose to go to church, as he lets you choose to eat fish, or meat, or chocolate.

Where ever you are your god will hear you. And what better a way for himto hear you than standing on the very earth he created for you, looking up at the very sky he created for you, celebrating the longest day of the light he gave you.
By the sounds of it your Pastor is everyhting i hate about the christian religion, the whole hypocritical side of it.; He beleives as a christian in choise, he beleives that god is within your heart. Yet still he can not see that your heart wants you to do things, to experiance things.
You WILL be coming to the solstice, and thats the last will be said on it. I dont care what some pathetic human being says to you, for he is no more powerful or better than you, he has no choice over you. You are free, you are you. And thats what you should be celebrating.
