my mom had it waiting for me by the time i woke up. Found most of the beats really disapointing. You could tell 50 made a huge mistake in not wating on Dre to finish the album and getting other beats from other other producers. maybe 5 out of 22 of the songs are worht listening to. your thoughts?
If you listen to the Song "let me in" by Young Buck(came out a couple months ago) then listen to the song "piggy bank" by 50 cent you'll hear almost hte eact same beat.
Hahaha. It's always almost the same beats from my viewpoint. Maybe the "almost" isn't even valid. I'm glad I don't have to rely on my mom to buy me albums... Oh yeah, hip hop must die.
yeah it seems like you cant buy a decent CD without it having a parental advisory on it nowadays(any genre too). come on booboo, its not all crap, just because it dont tickle ur fancy doesnt mean its crap. ive been listening to 50 and g-unit since before they ever signed with shady and became huge. their old stuff had lyrical content to match mos def talib kweli and other real artists but now they are jsut churnin out club hoppers to make money while they are still hot. to qoute 50 himself "the music business is the business of selling music"
Eminem needs to stop producing. 50 needs to stop rapping. And Jay needs to shut all of their careers down (including the Game's). (Has anyone been following the Game/Jay beef?) I want 50 to flop sooo bad. I thought he was cool when he was in the mixtape circuit, then he released 'Get Rich'and got hot too quick. Everything went straight to his head and he's been sucking since.
how so? i meant rap artist wise. g-unit is actin like little girls now, "oh you dont want in my beef with nas so im kickin u out of g-unit" "oh yeah well we are gonna come kill you even thought it was netiher your nor my idea for me to be in g-unit int he first place, it was so exec whot hought they could make money off it"
I stick with the old school hip hop. Grand Master Flash, Run DMC, De la soul, empd, ect, ect....After that, I can't even think about mainstream rap, let alone listen to it. Gimmie some Biz Markie or Tribe maaaaan!
Davey D: What have been some of the positive changes you've seen over the years within Hip Hop? What are some of the changes you've seen that you don't like? GM Flash: What I've found appealing is the fact that Hip Hop can take from any other genre of music, recreate it, reform it, rearrange it and put poetry over the top of it. That's Hip Hop. That was a positive thing for it. Now, as for what I don't like, I'll try to explain this real carefully. Me, Bambaataa and Kool Herc planted this seed. This seed was a seed to a tree. This tree had a massive trunk and this trunk had branches and leaves. The leaves symbolize different subject matter that we can speak on. If you think about the history of Hip Hop we've had artist who can talk about from socially significant ideas to something as cool as sneakers. There was a time when all these various subject matters were utilized. But what has happened, we as Hip Hoppers are not fully utilizing this tree. At this point in time, I just feel that this tree is leaning. By that I mean, I think we are putting too much weight on one side of the tree, when this particular genre of music allows us to talk about many things. Davey D: Why do you think this has happened? GM Flash: I think the music business plays a big part. Let's say have two record company's which I'll call 'Company Left' and 'Company Right'. Let's say Company Left has an artist with a hit record. Company Right would rather come up with a record that sounds like Company Left as opposed to allowing the creative flow of the artist to come up with something just as comparable. If you think about my era to throughout the 80’s, you had anybody from Eric B & Rakim who's subject matter was totally different from Chuck D, who's subject matter was totally different from LL's, who's subject matter was totally different from KRS-One. We were basically bombing the airwaves and the record companies could not figure out how and why. What has happened is that to some degree they have taken an attitude where they don't listen to demos of diverse subject matters. They're looking for demos like the record the guy on the left just did. Hip Hop has become real constrained. The creative juices and creative flows have been diminished.
