    It seems to me the accused/criminals have less rights now. We still have Miranda (for now).

    But even in the early 20th century. They had Alcatraz. It was never fun. But they used to serve pie. Did you know that? Blueberry and strawberry. Capone got sent to solitary once—for not eating his pie!

    True, but "things " always change. Stay engaged long enough and a desired change will eventually happen. Or not. However, entropy is inevitable.

    I would imagine given enough time, the earth would be like water world with all solid matter washed away by the relentless pounding of the ocean.

    Oh but the earth is so clever. Here in the Pacific Northwest the coastline is being elevated. The clam bore holes in Olympic Park and the old elevated beaches down south of Coos Bay are evidence.
