I made up a bunch of business cards for myself about 20 years ago. I don't own a business. But they have my basic contact information. Name, address and landline number. I still have them. I had them made up really cheap at Office Depot. The box holds a 1000. And I think I only used a few here and there back then. What would people think if I kept handing them out? I got them for convenience. Then I could just hand them to doctors or businesses. Or even mail them sometimes. They don't have my cell phone number or email address. But I could correct that by buying a little ink stamp.
We live in our rv and meet l I ts of folks on the road. We have cards and hand them out. They are well received.
In the correct context I think it's fine. You meet someone whom you want to talk to again but for some reason eg in a hurry and there's no time to take out a phone to enter their details (or they yours) and pen and paper is a hassle, then giving a card out is fine. It's your personal details so it's your choice. And by not having their details, it means that you can't make contact with them. They'll need to contact your first which means there's no pressure on them such as when they hadn't the strength at the time, face to face, to say they don't want contact. my 2c
Great idea! Mine are obsolete now. If the info isn't accurate I wouldn't give it out to business contacts. For social you can cross out the outdated info and write your new info. That would show this contact is important to you. Otherwise it's kinda tacky.
No, it's better to be safe than sorry. Our online info has already been mined, categorized, geolocated, demographicized, sold over and over, used to annoy us to buy crap to spy on us and to hack us further.
