This thread is pretty old, but I wanted a platform about veterans.

Recently, I mused how a drill Seargent is motivational. They are scary. They are loud. And they teach us how to be a soldier. They need us 'NOW!', and to produce that result they need to find a way to motivate us; and even sometimes to de-motivate the wrong things we might be motivated about; in my case drugs and alcohol, though I didn't ever get to serve my country in that capacity.

That was a random thought, but I got to thinking about veterans and how to me having a really big hamburger isn't my cup of tea, and that on Veteran's Day that might make me feel really alienated and like 'why do people not understand' and why is it so obviously misstated.?!

I thought what would make better sense and foster comradery is a Veteran's Day 'Post-Military Jog Event'. That would give venue to reminiscent conversation and bring together as community an underserved cross section of our society, post-military veterans.

When I have to think of that, it reminds me though of a High School reunion which is for me poised to go in the wrong direction. Some guys might like it though, and even the guys that don't totally go in for that sort of thing ("I'm enjoying my stupid hamburger day, thank you!") can maybe find their way to it and in that way participate in something that isn't so totally lost that it isn't worth salvage.

The military taught us to be a soldier in short order. But that doesn't mean we didn't learn plenty about how to appreciate life as a civilian, and something like this would give the VA (or whomever would organize such a thing) a higher value.

Something like this is critical for our military veterans to understand their value to the community. Thank you for your service!

Fuck those fucking fucks. I served my country for six years only to find myself on the Terror Watch List. TSA practically rapes me whenever I fly because my name is on that fucking list. I’m not personally on the list, but my name is, which shows how efficient it is.

I’m so irritated I wear this t-shirt when I fly just to get a reaction from TSA. Those fuckers can play with my ball bag all they want, but this shit gets old.

Fuck the TSA. Fuck the FBI. Fuck the CIA. Fuck all of them.
