    Of course I'm a feminist!

Domestic violence against women is higher than it is against men. I've seen it with my very own eyes. A very ugly thing that happens concerningly often in our world. In addition, biologically, females are physically less strong than males. Making it much harder to fight back.

Outdated, patriarchal practices still exist in our society. Traditional marriage has its roots in a transfer of OWNERSHIP of a woman from her father to her husband.

If no woman puts her foot down, there are a concerning number of men who are ready to jump on the opportunity to take our rights away.

It's already difficult enough to keep our rights in these times, apparently.

A woman can form a whole human being inside herself and even make milk to feed that human being. If that in and of itself doesn't make every man on earth respectful , loving and continue to attempt to make sure that women have the same (at least) rights that all us carriers of penile members have. Plus they are more peace loving, just as intelligent ( maybe more so) and a hell of a lot better looking than we are.:sunglasses: And what Wolverine said.

2nd wave feminism intentionally left out lesbians and trans women. Betty Friedan was opposed to lesbian inclusion in feminist circles and the anti-trans rhetoric of Janice G Raymond would make a right-wing Trump supporter blush. They were actually pretty horrible people who painted this picture of sisterhood, but only extended that sisterhood to white, middle class, cis women.

3rd wave feminism was much more inclusive to queer and trans women, but was still very whitewashed. Certainly not because of any inherent racism, but just that typical ignorant white point of view where the assumption is that the white perspective on something in a multicultural society, is also the universal perspective. This left a lot of black and brown women feeling left out or ignored. Each new "Wave" of feminism becomes more and more inclusive, but we can all name feminist icons from each wave--Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Betty Friedan, Kathleen Hanna--and what do they all have in common? They're all white.

I would love to see more women of color at the forefront of feminism, not just representing other women of color, but women as a whole. White women need black and brown feminist heroes to look up to; straight women need queer feminists to admire. I think until these things happen, it will always remain at least slightly fractured.

I've probably commented on this thread before but I think a fresh way to contribute would be:
A guy who feels threatened by the position or status of a woman needs to look at himself to find out why and fix himself.
    IMV, they are equal.
analogy: An athlete who loses a race will reflect and regroup with trainers, to be better next time.
They don't complain about the one who won the race.

Likewise, men, they need to up their game and stop criticising women as if to deflect from their own inadequacies.
They should do that instead of lashing out with misogynist comments or with their fists because that just shows them to be the insignificant, self unaware people that they are said to be.
