my apents listen to joss stone... and i was a bit dubious at first.. but i must agree.. her voice is beautiful... she's got that lazy summers afternooon feel and i just love listening to her voice sometimes... makes me feel relaxed..
This kinda says so much about what we value in music... this whole concept that we expect them to write their own material and perform it... but, if you look at the development of popular music, that is still a relatively new concept... for such a long there was a distinction between the performer and the writer... how much material did Elvis write?... how much did Sinatra write?... how much did Arethra Franklin write (as this is probably the closest comparison)?... it is unfair to suggest that you can only be a good artist if you write your own material... well goodbye to most Motown artists then?... Also... we are talking about a 17 year old aren't we?... most 17 year olds that I know would generally produce less than excellent material because they lack the life experiences that would inform quality writing... once upon a time we allowed artists time to grow and develop... now we expect them to produce work of genius from the outset... Fly...
i see what your saying...but what i meant was that the album that she didnt write sounded better than the one she co wrote (the recent 1)...and yeah i know not all greats wrote their own music...maybe they wouldn't of had the success they did if they had
