Trump is obsessed with optics, even while someone is trying to assassinate him.

Yet he's worried about being in a sinking electric boat and being either electrocuted or eaten by a shark.

One witness saw Mr crooks bearcrawling up & across the building. & tried to get the attention of the authorities. Who basically ignored him. This makes me suspicious.

Speaker Johnson is blaming Democrats for the violence because they say that Trump is a threat to democracy.

    excerpt:

“When the message goes out constantly that the election of Donald Trump would be a threat to democracy and that the republic would end, I mean it heats up the environment,” the Louisiana Republican said on NBC. “We cannot do that. It’s simply not true. Everyone needs to turn the rhetoric down.”

    https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/14/politics/biden-say-trump-shooting-bullseye/index.html

    excerpt:

"Trump has often used violent imagery himself, including warning that the country faces a “bloodbath” if Biden wins in November. His supporters attacked police officers and broke doors and windows as they stormed the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, in a bid to overturn the 2020 election results amid Trump’s false claims of widespread fraud. The former president has also mocked the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was attacked by an assailant with a hammer at their San Francisco home in 2022."

    excerpt:

"The former president also has often said Biden is the real threat to democracy, and claims the president would dissolve US borders. In the June debate, repeating a claim that is a staple of Trump’s rallies and speeches, he said if Biden wins in November, “we probably won’t have a country left anymore, that’s how bad it is.”"

Trump shooting live updates: Secret Service says 'no changes' to RNC security plan

    excerpt:

"Moments before the suspected shooter opened fire on former President Donald Trump, a municipal police officer confronted him, said Butler County Sheriff Michael T. Slupe in an interview with The Washington Post.

The officer lifted himself high enough to look onto the roof, Slupe said, and the suspected shooter pointed his gun at the peering officer. Slupe said the officer was holding the edge of the roof, so he was not holding his gun in his hand, and then dropped down.

Moments later, the gunman opened fire on the rally, according to Slupe's account to The Washington Post.

"He lets go because he doesn't want to get killed," Slupe said to The Washington Post.

The officer from the roof was investigating an earlier report of a suspicious individual, according to the Washington Post."

    Johnson says Trump is vilified.

Speaker Mike Johnson on Trump shooting: ‘Everyone needs to turn the rhetoric down’

    excerpt:

"Johnson also pointed to media coverage and public discussions about Trump. “There’s no figure in American history, at least in the modern era, maybe since Lincoln, who’s been so vilified and really persecuted by the media, Hollywood elites, political figures, you know, even the legal system,” Johnson told “TODAY” show hosts Savannah Guthrie and Willie Geist on Sunday."

Mike Johnson calls for parties to turn down rhetoric after Trump assassination attempt

    excerpt:

"We all saw what seemed to be a miracle. I believe that God's spirit — and that bullet went just, apparently a millimeter from doing real and permanent damage to him or perhaps taking his life. It's just kind of a surreal thing," he said in the interview.

Johnson praised Trump's "show of strength" immediately following the incident before condemning the vitriol directed toward the GOP candidate from the left and the media."

Dick Morris says Trump will win the election.

Assassination attempt guarantees Trump's return to White House, political guru says: 'Race is over'

    excerpt:

“Functionally, the race is over,” Morris said on his WABC podcast. “[Trump] wins if he lives. … There’s nothing that can get into Trump’s path except a bullet.

“As grizzly as it sounds, this assassination attempt didn’t succeed in killing Trump, but it probably succeeded in killing the Democratic Party’s chances this year,” Morris said.

    https://www.axios.com/2024/07/14/trump-assassination-attempt-martyr-rnc

    excerpts:

"Republicans couldn't ask for more of a contrast, with President Biden spending the last two weeks in a standoff with Democrats who fear he is too feeble to campaign effectively.

Trump, who said on Truth Social that he felt the bullet "ripping through" his skin, will be welcomed in Milwaukee on Monday as a hero, a fighter — even a messiah to elements of his evangelical base."

"Fight...fight...fight!" the indignant former president appeared to shout as he was shuttled away from the crime scene, where two people, including the shooter, were left dead.

Thirteen people dead because of the insurrection Trump incited after telling his followers they need to fight like hell.

Yet Trump blames the Capitol Police for the riot for supposedly letting his rioters into the Capitol.

Mike Johnson sides with Trump and blames Democrats for violence.

    The situation has changed.

Haley has been invited to the RNC convention and will be a speaker.

The change may have been because of her decision to release her 97 delegates to Trump.

House Speaker Mike Johnson attended Trump's criminal trial in NY to defend Trump.

Speaker Mike Johnson assails Trump's felony trial in remarkable visit outside courthouse

    excerpt:

"It was a remarkable moment in modern American politics: The House speaker amplifying Trump’s defense and turning the Republican Party against the federal and state legal systems that are foundational to the U.S. government and a cornerstone of democracy."
