Merchan may be concerned about his own legacy. He probably doesn't want to go down in history as the judge who sentenced Trump about a month and a half ahead of the 2024 election.

In most other cases, the sentencing would have proceeded. It was supposed to be in July 2024 a few days ahead of the start of the RNC convention. Trump's team delayed it to September with the help of the Supreme Court's presidential immunity ruling. Merchan has now delayed it until about three weeks after the 2024 election.

Trump's bullying tactic seems to be working for at least some of his criminal court cases.

It seems like it's time for Trump to head to the international home of retired dictators.

It would be a good late night comedy sketch. Trump and all the other has-been dictators of the world chumming together and reminiscing about the good old days.

If reelected, Trump's going to declare national emergencies to act as an autocrat.

He declared a national emergency so that he could use military money (ultimately U.S. taxpayer money) to pay for his wall (that he said Mexico would finance) that the Republicans wouldn't even give him money to build.

Trump is still frustrated about Biden exiting the race.

Trump threatens Harris by saying he will alter the 25th Amendment so that a VP can be removed from office for supposedly covering up a president's mental decline.

    https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/07/politics/trump-modify-25th-amendment-harris-biden/index.html

    excerpt:

"Former President Donald Trump on Saturday called for “modifying” the 25th Amendment to allow for the removal of a vice president who “lies or engages in a conspiracy to cover up the incapacity of the president,” a political nonstarter and the latest escalation of his attacks on President Joe Biden and the change atop the Democratic ticket.

“If you do that with a cover-up of the president of the United States, it’s grounds for impeachment immediately and removal from office, beause that’s what they did,” Trump said during a campaign rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin.

In the wake of Biden’s poor June debate performance and his decision to end his presidential campaign a month later, Trump and his Republican allies have accused Vice President Kamala Harris and top Democrats of covering up a decline in the president’s mental fitness."

Trump would also be expected to want to modify the 25th Amendment so that a vice president can be run out of office for refusing to comply with a corrupt president who wants to illegally overturn a presidential election.

Trump didn't have an official, legal way of disposing of VP Pence in the weeks leading up to Trump's insurrection at the Capitol. Pence made statements that he was coing to respect the law. Trump found another way of potentially disposing of him by sending his rioters after him and leaving him trapped in the basement of the Capitol for the afternoon and evening.

Trump says he will prosecute election cheaters, the likes of which has never been seen before.

Trump threatens lawyers, donors and election officials with prison for 'unscrupulous behavior'

    excerpt:

“The 2024 Election, where Votes have just started being cast, will be under the closest professional scrutiny and, WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law, which will include long term prison sentences so that this Depravity of Justice does not happen again," he wrote.

He continued, “Please beware that this legal exposure extends to Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials. Those involved in unscrupulous behavior will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country.”

number one on the list of election cheaters: Trump. He's been charged with felonies by the DOJ and the state of GA.

lawyers: Trump's attorney Jenna Ellis who pleaded guilty to election cheating in the GA case

political operatives: Trump's buddies Parnas and Fruman who illegally funneled money to him and were sent to prison for it.

donors: Benton was convicted of illegally steering Russian campaign donations to Trump.

illegal voters: numerous Republicans who were caught voting illegally, such as a slew of Republians in conservative The Villages retirement community in Florida. In Nevada, Republican Donald Hartle used his dead wife's name to vote twice. To promote Trump's narrative, Hartle knowingly and publicly spread a false narrative that someone stole his dead wife's ballot and voted illegally with it. He pleaded guilty to voting illegally.

corrupt election officials: Republican Tina Peters who was convicted of tampering with the 2020 election in CO on behalf of Trump.
