Donald Trump Had a Really, Really Bad Debate Kamala Harris, veteran prosecutor, proved beyond a reasonable doubt on Tuesday night that her opponent will always take the bait. By Susan B. Glasser September 11, 2024 Donald Trump Had a Really, Really Bad Debate excerpt: "By the end of the evening, prediction markets and the instant polls were calling Harris a big winner, Pete Buttigieg was dunking on Trump’s “crazy uncle vibe,” and, adding insult to injury, Taylor Swift decided to pick this night to endorse Harris in an Instagram post to her two hundred and eighty-three million followers. The historian Michael Beschloss concluded: “From start to end, Kamala Harris has just delivered what is easily one of the most successful Presidential debate performances in all of American history.” No wonder Trump’s son Don, Jr., was reduced to tweeting his fury at the moderators: “The Fake News is the enemy of the people!”"
Melania was spotted with Trump in March 2024 while he was voting for a primary. When asked when she would start campaigning with Trump she replied, 'Stay tuned." Nearly six months later, no Melania. Melania Trump makes rare appearance on 2024 campaign trail
Trump made the same type of remark in September 2023. He said he thought she might being joining him on the campaign trail in the not too distant future, maybe.
Trump is blaming Harris for the assassination attempt on him. Trump's line is that Harris said Trump is a threat to democracy and therefore someone tried to kill him. It's factual that Trump is a threat to democracy. Trump's election lies caused hundreds of injuries and 13 deaths.

Inflation slowed in August. The federal reserve is expected to cut interest rates in September. Trump, who has always wanted interest rate cuts, wants any cut to be delayed until after the November election. That's not likely. Trump knows that an interest rate cut will likely boost Wall Street and be good for Harris. A cut will also be seen as good by businesses and the general public who want to purchase big ticket items.
Trump wants ABC shut down for daring to fact-check him. Trump Demands ABC Be Shut Down for Daring to Fact Check Debate excerpt: "Trump repeatedly claimed the debate “was three on one” and suggested Disney’s FCC broadcast licenses should be revoked due to the moderators’ conduct."
Trump suggests he won't try to debate Harris again. https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/11/media/will-trump-and-harris-debate-again-abc-moderators/index.html
Trump says he feels he was sucker-punched by Biden dropping out of the race. In hindsight, Trump shouldn't have insulted Biden as much earlier in the campaign. Biden might have stayed in the race.
Even if Trump feels he was sucker-punched, he's done it to many people in his life. Not paying his contractors is an example. Leaving Pence stranded in the basement of the Capitol during the riot is another.
Harris gave a lucid, very clear example of some plans she has when she becomes president. Trump showed his usual unhinged self, shouting and behaving like the equivalent of a fifth grader, with the usual lies, exaggerations and lack of respect. He did, however use a little better self control right up until Ms Harris got under that thin skin of his. He now has "a concept " of a health plan--I suppose better than the one he was going to release in two weeks time--back 7 years ago. Never released , of course. He has nothing to offer anyone except for his cult members who for some unknown reason---see something in him that is worthwhile. He is a bumbling, failed fool that has poisoned the whole system of government and social discourse. Unfortunately, his cult members will remain part of the political landscape for years to come. (now if I may be excused, I think my neighbors dog is ready to come off the barbecue)

Trump still won't admit he was wrong about thinking the Central Park Five were guilty. https://www.npr.org/2024/09/11/nx-s1-5108632/central-park-five-trump-debate excerpt: "But Tuesday night, Trump said that at the time the five Black and Latino teenagers who were falsely accused of the crime must have “badly hurt a person, killed a person, ultimately.” The victim in the case is still alive but deals with the lingering health effects of her attack. It wasn't the first time in recent years Trump has falsely claimed that the men were responsible for the attack." "It wasn't until 2002 that the five men were exonerated after convicted rapist and murderer Matias Reyes confessed to the crime. Reye's DNA matched the sample found on Meili."
Trump refuses to acknowledge objective facts, even decades later. Consider the risks of him as president with a mindset that relentlessly protects his ego.
Trump's conspiracy-laced debate performance prompts concern from some allies excerpt: "There was, however, concern even among some who support Trump that his lackluster performance less than two months ahead of Election Day is a self-inflicted wound. “I know everyone in the world has said this, but the inability or unwillingness to realize when he’s being baited and not fall for it is constantly baffling,” a longtime Republican operative said. Others inside Trump’s debate camp, who were granted anonymity to speak freely, said that they agree the performance was lackluster, and at times Harris caught him flat-footed, but they were skeptical that during an election cycle in which both sides are already entrenched in their positions that this debate could move many votes."
Trump's allies acknowledge how easy it is to bait him in a debate, yet they don't seem to have any fear about how easy it would be for people like Putin to bait him as president.
