    How old are you? 69

How do you feel about getting caught, what would you do? Who catches you? It bother me a lot when I was younger because my older sister would always try and "accidentally" catch me, but I don't think it would phase me in the least, these days.

How comfortable are you about talking about it? With friends/family/etc? I was taught that masturbation was unnatural and a sin. So until recent;y I was ashamed to discuss it with anyone. After the inception of the internet and discussing it with thousands of anonymous people who felt the same way, I learned that it was normal, natural, not a sin and definitely nothing to be ashamed of. Now, I think I can discuss it with anyone openly.

How many times have you had sex, how often? I'm too old to remember exactly how many times I've had sex or even all the people that I've had sex with. I am a widower. So, at this point in time I hardly have sex at all.

How many times do you masturbate, how often? 3 to 4 times a week. Also, 3 to 4 times a week.

Is that acceptable or is it something that should be hidden? Is age a variable in this? If so, what age? Is it respect? If everyone is comfortable with it, then respect isn't an issue. I think masturbation is very acceptable and should never be hidden, but done in privacy unless it's acceptable to everyone involved. Age should not be a variable, as long as it's done within reason and in appropriate places. I started masturbating at the ripe old age of 6. My mother was always telling me to stop "touching myself down there". I learned very quickly that I needed to hide the fact that I loved playing with myself. So, I would find ways and places to do it so I wouldn't get caught. Hence the shame and guilt, but I loved doing it so much I wasn't going to stop. If everyone is comfortable with it and open about it, then I don't see a problem with respect. If my partner told me she was going to go masturbate I would ask if she wanted help or if I could watch, but if she said no to those questions I would tell her to enjoy herself and take as long as she likes!!! Hopefully, she would do the same, but I would be more receptive to her watching or helping!!!!

How often do you do it? As often as I can and feel in the mood to do so which on avrage is 3-4 times a week
How old are you? Early 70's

How do you feel about getting caught, what would you do? Who catches you? I come from an era when masturbation was taboo - dirty, sinful, dangerous. Much has changed but this has not entirely disappeared. When I first started to masturbate as a youth getting caught was a constant fear that shaped attitudes to doing it and the way we did it. I always knew it was natural and okay but that did not remove the fear of the consequences of being caught in the act. My lover and I both masturbate in front of each other but she does not know I do it when alone (or if she does, has not indicated to me that she does) I only do it when I am alone and, contrary to my beliefs, would not want to be caught though I am sure it would not be a problem

How comfortable are you about talking about it? With friends/family/etc? I can and do discuss sex including masturbation with friends in the abstract but, given my upbringing, would not b comfortable talking about my own. This has made me think, and I realise I could talk honestly about masturbating in my youth but not about my solo sex now

How many times have you had sex, how often? Obviously thousands

How many times do you masturbate, how often? As answer to first question it averages 3-4 times a week sometimes more sometimes less running to a minimum of 12000 to 15000 times atmy current rate and there were years when it was far more prodigious

I got the idea for this thread from Project Comfortability.
It basically has to do with breaking down the barriers behind these things (masturbation). And being able to talk to your family about it comfortably.

"Hey mom, I need about 2 minutes alone, go in your room. I need to masturbate."

"All you need is 2 minutes, Jimmy??!"

Is that acceptable or is it something that should be hidden? Is age a variable in this? If so, what age? Is it respect? If everyone is comfortable with it, then respect isn't an issue.
That would be fantastic for boys (and girls) reaching sexual maturity today and I have known some people who have treated their kids this way but I doubt it is common and I think there is a point in early adulthood where discussion between parents and their children is not comfortable for either. I'm just glad it never happened to me!!!!!

I'm 70, no sex at all for 15 plus years and nothing meaningful for 20 years. Masturbating is my happu place, my release. I only talk about it on this forum or with people who are potential play partners. I'm not comfortable with getting caught, even by my wife. She doesn't want to do anything, no sex drive, so mycock is mine to get off.
Yes it was seen as dirty and sinful when I was young. Attitudes to sex when growing up, cement our actions and reactions as adults. I'd love for society to be more accepting, at a family level at least, to provide a safe place and encouragement to explore our sexualities safely and age appropriately. Sex should be encouraged with protection, guidance, having us feel good about doing it and having positive feedback and suggestions as to safely having sex. Some on this forum have grown up in such a sex positive atmosphere, taught to time when to and when is not safe, practices that are safe. Man, I admire their upbringing. I'd go back and do my growing up all over again if I could be like that.
