When a cell site loses power, it may have some backup but it's probably not good indefinitely. The heat from the fire could also zap the electronics permanently.

That's true. It bogs down after so many GB and finally becomes worthless as anything other than a cell phone, though I think you might still find speeds as per normal mbps on your cell phone.

The other thing you might want to procure is a power bank, or two, or three! If you are using the phone as a hotspot, or if there will simply be nowhere to charge it the power bank is a good resource. This isn't going to be necessary if you have power though, and probably many will stay with hotels out of the fray.

They aren't totally cheap, but I bought one in The Oaks shopping mall from a cell phone repair for about $55. You might find one at $.99 Cents Only! :) Ask the attendant for a marker to name them so you don't forget which one has been used or needs to charge or if they are for family.

This is kinda sick to say but this is enjoyable to watch.

I was in the worst of the hurricanes this year, half my friends and half the businesses I shopped in still not back because of insurance the FEMA 50% rule "flood plain management" bureaucratic horse shit.

The permit bureaucracy you can't fix your stupid drywall that got flooded without permits and government creeps inspecting bla bla bla stupid horse shit system.

Your house got flooded you can't just rebuild wait months and months bureaucracy horse shit to do simple repairs those government bastards are worse then the hurricane itself.

Its like what the fuck you need to wait months to get a permit to fix the drywall that got wet whats next with these government bastards if you step in a puddle you need a permit to change your wet socks ?

I don't give 2 shits about the Ca elites who lost their houses, I think its funny, I just hope the regular people are OK.

There is always one asswipe in every forum who feels compelled to throw out a bunch of negative bullshit in a time of disaster.

That being said, I just feel sick thinking about the devastation and despair of those impacted.

It just gets tiring why do people that are good at playing charterers in movies or make music get their opinions on the news all the time lecture the rest of us.

What does a dude who plays phony characters in movies what wisdom does he got compared to a nurse in the hospital we never heard of or any other profession ?

I don't care what some actor thinks over anyone else.

Every news website has a "How to Donate to the LA Fire Victims". Sounds like a bait and switch where the websites keep the money.
PS: I'll be sure to donate all my food stamps.

I feel bad about some comments but I didn't know it was this bad thought it only made the news because of celebrities no one celebrates.

Now watching the news just the same crap the news reporters with that news reporter voice speaking style they use. Can't tell if its serous or not.

Its always the same voice everything made to sound so serious 4 inches of snow ! The world is going to stop catastrophe catastrophe 4 inches of snow then it doesn't even snow.

Now the in fire news the public officials "partners" and "resources" we are not corrupt sacks of crap we are in charge and care about you, ya right.

So I guess after the planned fire they have been waiting for the big land grab to build the watch and control your every move 15 minute smart city.

Force everyone out by making rebuilding rules and codes so expensive and complicated people sell and leave.

Id be quite pissed if I bought some lower banks only to realise the masts were down due to the fire.

    Re. Stick-built properties..
They're cheaper to build. They would be more resilient in an earthquake too. Brick-built properties can burn too.

Maybe this isn't the correct spot for my comments.

The "dry fire hydrants " some news outlets are making a big stink about, here is some common sense thoughts.
City water mains are sized by the number of occupied buildings that they serve. Their water source is limited. Being supplied by water storage tanks which under normal conditions would supply water to that service area. Heavier use during the day. And lighter demand at night. With steady water refilling the tanks by the next morning they're at or close to capacity.

The downside of the system is if you get a extremely high, sudden demand for water the systems capacity can't keep up. In this case a very heavy high demand from multiple fire hydrants at the same time , for a extended period of time depleted the water supply.
How do civil engineers plan for that type of a emergency in designing a infrastructure ? It basically is a once in a life time event where none of us witnessed anything that extreme before. The drought, the extreme winds, the hills, contributed to a perfect fire storm.

What we tend to forget is that everyone else is using your hotspot, not just your own devices.

Even when all the microwave dishes disappeared off the post office tower in London, no one seemed to wonder what was replacing them.
In reality, it is a huge advantage, by reducing the RF saturation in the atmosphere. Fibre runs all over the country, so the RF links are shortening.
For fear of a conspiracy theory outbreak, governments ar almost as secretive about this as flying saucers.
Secrecy makes no sense. If people are told how things work and how it also keeps the costs down, they will have no problems with it.

When I mention how our botched attempts of reducing climate change are doing nothing except making money for the governments and corporations, Even HF members do not want to believe me.

    Fact 1.
This planet is enclosed in a cocoon, so everything has to balance. Nuclear power has nothing to balance the energy released, but NO ONE wants to discuss it.

    Fact 2.
We all know that carbon dioxide consists of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. So when we stop producing carbon dioxide, where does the oxygen go.
Mother nature soon worked than one out. She decided to stick two fingers in the oxygen rich air and oxidise California.

Fact 3. this one is double barreled.
Energy can neither be created or destroyed.
The atmosphere over the oceans is a saturated vapor. The ACTUAL water content is therefore dependant on temperature.
We put windmills around the coastline, both converting kinetic energy into heat and producing electricity that will ultimately end up as more heat, with less wind to blow it away. Meanwhile the changes are resulting in both flooding and drought, not to mention high winds and dry air over poor old California.

I could go on all night, but even Donald Trump has not thought about taxing the wind end potential energy from human farts. YET.

Please look up the Chatsworth Resevoir in L.A. on Google Maps. its 12 miles from Pacific Palisades.

It has been dry for bout 20 years. might have helped.

Does anyone know why its not being utilized?
