I have had it to varying degrees for a while but at the beginning of last year it came on strong and stayed tried melatonin and magnesium neither helped ( although the melatonin definitely helps sleep ) What have you tried?
My musician son has it too. He now wears ear plugs when he plays and has some hearing aids that he wears occasionally, although his hearing is still ok. Coming up with a cure for tinnitus and one for baldness would make one a billionaire!!!
I had a bout of tinnitus several weeks ago for no reason. I wondered what in the worldly facets could be the reason because I don't usually experience any sensation quite like tinnitus. If you've never had it, it's rather unusual, and at the very least disconcerting. SO... I googled "coronavirus tinnitus" to see if maybe it was a sign that I had CoViD-19, and sure as shinola! it's a symptom. It wasn't CoViD though, and my tinnitus went away without returning. The thing that makes me wonder is I don't listen to my music very loud - the stereo in the car maxes out fairly low for even the best songs (which I turn up)... And whenever I've gone clubbing in recent history I always wear earplugs.
I went to a Ministry concert a few years ago--stood right next to the speakers!! I could not hear ANYTHING FOR TWO DAYS. Just thought I'd throw that in .
I’ve had it since I was very young and it’s constant. Tried special hearing aids at one point to help with it but it didn’t do much. My hearing is good, starting to go a little now that I’m in my late forties.
I recommend acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbal medicine for most chronic conditions, particularly if Western treatments are costly, have significant side effects, or are ineffective. This link (to a page on HF) has some information about treatment. Alternative Treatments for Physical and Mental Illness From the TCM perspective, there can be many different causes of the same symptom. Some people want advice like "take [herb x] for tinnitus", but that's not the way it works. Usually you have to get something prescribed by a professional, and it's a formula that combines several herbal ingredients.
I have it in one ear. Hearing not as good as other ear but tolerable. I am so used to it that I don't let it bother me. Of course it's there, sometimes worse than others but I don't let it define me. In fact this is the first time I've even mentioned it.
I often joke with people around me that: "The ringing in my ears is so loud I'm surprised you can't hear it."
