you know when you wear socks and rub your feet against the carpet real fast and then touch something, so that you get a shock? Well this keeps happening to me for no reason, 9 times out of 10 when i get out of my car i get an ellectric shock, today at my friends house, i touched the wall and i got shocked, last night i washed my hands and the tap shocked me aswell! im not sure what would cause this but it seems everything i touch has the potential to shock me and if its metal the it is more then likely to shock me.
Try using dryer sheets, they have anti-static chemicals. Otherwise stay away from synthetic materials in your wardrobe. Natural materials gather much less static than say polyester.
u live near high power lines? i remember once at a train station getting a shock from a phone then everytime i kissed my gf wed shock eachother (this was right after hearring bout a woman onthe news who had put radioactive pellets in her sons phone & pillow to give him brain cancer) i was freaking out (tripping att the time) thinking someone did something tothe phone *& i was permenantly electrified somehow but it turned out to be from the powerlines & the faint drizzle in the air so if u live near high tension powerlines & its humid..maybe thats why
I have that problem with my cat in the winter. When I rub his head and back static builds up. Then if I touch his nose he gets zapped and it scares the hell out of him.
my old car used to charge me up all the time, i think it probably had a wiring problem. i'd get zapped whenever i drove to the grocery store and touched a shopping cart, etc... doesnt happen anymore in the car i have now get your wiring checked. cheers! nimh ps, the chemicals in dryer sheets are totally toxic, yeeeeuch!
I have a similar thing....everything seems to zap me - shopping trolleys, esculators, the shelves in the library. But I don't have a car, don't live near power lines, it's not humid...
when you get out of the car take one leg out at a time keeping them pressed against the car body. try not to swing the seat of your pants around in the seat when getting out keep your hand against the car body and slowly get out with one leg against the car body , keep one hand on the car at all times!! then turn key and lock door - walk away. the chances are its your pants/clothing reacting with the car seat cover. by keeping your body in contact with the car at all times , you reduce the likely hood of voltage build up due to friction. good luck
I hate it...... Somrtimes when I pet my Dog,etc...... I get zappd!! (I wonder what the voltage is??) Maybe we could try Skips idea!!
Ways To Avoid Getting Static Shocks 1 Use a humidifier 2 Moisturize your skin 3 Use anti-static sprays on carpets, clothes, rugs 4 Wash your clothes with baking soda 5 Use dryer sheets 6 Avoid wearing fur, wool, synthetics, and rubber-soled shoes 7 Touch metal objects frequently to dissipate charges below the level of a shock 8 Carry a metal object with you and touch it to other metal objects before you touch them with your hand.
