This is an unfortunate crime perpetrated by immigrant workers in Delhi. They were petty criminals under the influence of alcohol and in a rage because the victim and her boyfriend had fought back before going down.

All of them were captured by the Indian police, convicted and awarded capital punishment after due process.

With access to educational resources leading to intellectual education, ethical and cultural literacy it is possible that these petty criminals from a poverty-stricken background could have evolved into more refined and ethical individuals with proper character and conduct like the reformed serial killer Angulimala mentioned earlier.

However, such similar crimes had occurred manifold sponsored deliberately by state and religious authorities.

The Goan inquisition perpetrated by the Portuguese in their colony of Goa in India saw many Hindus,Jews, Muslims, Buddhists tortured and killed for not accepting
    Christianity and other similar reasons.

Voltaire stated on the same, "Goa is sadly famous for its inquisition, equally contrary to humanity and commerce. The Portuguese monks made us believe that the
people worshiped the devil, and it is they who have served him."

In the military operation named Vijay, the Indian army liberated Goa from Portuguese colonial rule in 1961, ending permanently the persecution of Hindus and non-christians in Goa.

Just like the martyred Indian king Pazhassi Raja, Tipu Sultan was an another Indian king who died in the battlefield sword in hand, defending his kingdom from British invaders.

Some British atrocities on civilians of south India during Anglo-Mysore Wars

The invaders ransacked the well-governed and prosperous kingdom of Tipu engaging in extensive looting, rapine and atrocities.

The below British account describes an attack on a town in Tipus kingdom and the atrocities committed then, corroborating Indian sources as well.

In 1947, the revolt by Indian mercenaries in the British employed mercenary army in India, inspired by the independence struggle of Gandhi and Bose, persuaded
the british to grant independence to India due to lack of adequate military strength.

Indian economy overtook the British economy as the fifth largest economy in the world in 2021, and has now emerged as a greater political, economic and military
power than the UK at present with the fourth strongest military in the world.

India is now forecast to overtake the American And Chinese economies within a few decades to become the largest economy on earth again, as mentioned earlier.

The M? Tr?ch Massacre was committed by the French army in Vietnam in 1948, where over 200 Vietnamese women and children were raped and killed, in a bid to quell the Vietnamese independence movement and continue its exploitation of vietnam.

The elderly were also subjected to rape in Vietnam showing that rape was used as a weapon of war by French colonial forces to terrorize the local population to submission.

Even though the french enjoyed the diplomatic support of the British and other colonial powers, they were however decisively defeated by the Vietnamese forces in 1954
    leading to their expulsion.

The Dutch forces similarly engaged in torture, rape and execution of Indonesian civilians during the wars of indonesian freedom struggle till Indonesia attained
    independence in 1949.

The Dutch Are Uncomfortable With Being History’s Villains, Not Victims

The petty criminals Saul have described above did commit crimes under alcohol and also due to the stress of the harsh socio-economic environment around them.

But what excuses can be given for the deliberate atrocities and crimes committed by so-called civilized religious, state and military authorities forsaking ethical and moral conduct due to their greed and craving for carnal pleasures, sadistic tendencies, power and wealth !

Such greed, fervor and competition for colonies to exploit was also a major reason for the two world wars which originated in europe, devastated it and lead to the deaths of over a hundred million people and wide-spread trauma.

Millions of women and girls were subjected to rape in Europe during the two world wars.

World War II: Millions of rapes on women and girls

The subsequent irreversible weakening of europe to second rate powers due to the world wars, however lead to independence of the colonised countries in Asia and Africa and ending of colonial atrocities on them.

These colonised countries after independence went on to become major powers in their own right and are now dictating the course of global foreign policy.

Its easy to fetishize crime in far away places and exotic locales. Meantime immigrants here, who you know, seem nice.
Americans seem to avoid "punching down" on thier own voters. Looking at the J6 people who crashed Congress in Washington DC and are now in laurels; celebrated by the new Administration. Our journalists can titilate us with far-away crime for clicks but are shy to cover local street crimes.
