In the old days I had to lug around a heavy purse with at least a half pound of coins that seemed like I never spent. Then there was a big wad of currency. Now its just a flash of a card and write a check at the end of the month.
In God and Cold Hard Cash We Must Inevitably Trust, Whenever There Is No Justice In Or Out Of Court! Beware The Ides Of March! Just Ask Rudy Guliani, they seized his bank accounts.
I just moved to a pretty rural place, a lot of places take credit but not all and a large part of the population often pay in cash at the store I work in.
I use it as much as possible and it is definitely my preferred choice. I dont frequent any high street businesses ( shops, restaurants, bars, services etc) that dont except cash unless I have no alternative to get what I want. I try to make as many purchases as possible on site and not on line. I go to rail stations to buy my tickets, I go to shops to buy my goods. I never use a food delivery service where they wont except cash at my door. I either do take away or eat in the premises. Basically wherever and whenever possible I will always pay cash. I totally stand by the statement 'CASH IS KING' . When the inevitable major tech meltdown or possible EMP event happens those who rely on the non cash way of doing things will suffer more than me if the shit hits the fan. I dare say that most people have suffered at least once or twice because the tech fucked with them - either their own or someone elses. Try getting on public transport at 3am any day of the week if they dont take cash and your card, your smart phone or whatever is disfunctional or you dont have enough credit. Even my cash is no good in this case unless I have enough for a taxi.
Yes and one is when I am in the tool truck buying anything. The tool truck dealers I deal with like it this way,no interest rate with cash
I carry cash, mostly for restaurants. Some of them require a charge just to use a CC. I also don't like being asked to leave a tip on the screen nor donate stuff. Cash is quick, clean and clear.
Cash is the only way being anonymously and where the government and bank does not keep record. There is danger if we switch to cashless society.
If I'm doing a long ride on my Harley I'll take cash for over night hotel/motel stays, gas and eats go on the card. I was asked by a receptionist one time as I was getting a room, "why do you guys always pay in cash?" I told her we were all on the FBIs 10 Most Wanted List and didn't want to leave a trail.
I always carry a little cash for emergencies, never know when internet might go down while in an uber or restaurant etc…
I always carry cash. Not for nefarious reasons, but because I guess I'm old school that way. The other day I bought a pretzel with cash at Auntie Anne's and the teenage girl working there looked at me like I was the Devil for making her take an extra step to give me change.
