Something I've wondered for some time now. Are guns just a phallic symbol? What would Freud have to say? Because if they are that means every time someone shoots somebody, they're just trying to make love to them. That seems unlikely.
Of course they're a phallic symbol. They not-very-subtly offer men a way to overcompensate for their deep-seated sense of inadequacy, insecurity, and impotence by prancing about brandishing a mass-murder machine like a surrogate phallus. Like rape, it has nothing to do with love. It's all about power and control.

I think you might be right about some people. However, archery and marksmanship have been a big part of my life. I teach hunter safety and the cornerstone of safety is taking responsibility. Like most things, over generalizing leads to in correct conclusions
