What's behind the Trump administration's immigration memes?

    excerpt:

The blend of nostalgia, aggression and calls to "Save America," "Secure the Golden Age" and "Protect. Serve. Deport." evoke a nationalist, white-centered view of who the American homeland is for, said Heidi Beirich, co-founder of the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/17/us/politics/trump-shift-national-security-focus.html

    excerpt:

"Eight months into Mr. Trump’s presidency, Americans and the world are learning a lot about his willingness to use military force, and terrorist designations, as he expands his targeting of perceived enemies, foreign and domestic. It is a notably different approach than during his first term, when Mr. Trump chafed at being held back, including in one instance when his defense secretary said that he could not shoot missiles into Mexico to attack cartel strongholds."

Trump continues to pressure his DOJ to charge Letitia James with mortgage fraud. It has come up empty for five months.

A limited power of attorney form used by the niece of James' niece was never considered by the loan officers who approved the mortgage.

Trump's DOJ is citing the POA document which used a template that could be construed as pertaining to a home that the buyer lives in.

It shows the desperation of Trump to try to indict James.

Trump officials pressuring federal prosecutors to bring criminal charges against NY AG Letitia James: Sources

    excerpt:

"When federal prosecutors recently declined to indict James, Pulte encouraged Trump to fire Erik Siebert, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and replace him with a prosecutor who would be willing to bring charges against James, sources said."

Fox raves on and on about lavish treatment of Trump.

President Trump’s lavish Windsor Castle visit features grand suite, ‘Royal Blend’ tea and military honors

    excerpt:

"While no public events were planned for the evening, the festivities are set to begin on Wednesday as the couple will be hosted by King Charles III. Ahead of the couple's arrival, hundreds of staff worked through the halls and grounds of the nearly 1,000-year-old castle to ensure the monarch welcomed the couple in true royal fashion."

Trump is also talking about gutting the earth science programs of NASA.

Trump Executive Order Declares NASA Is Now a Spy Agency

    excerpt:

Meanwhile, space science has taken a back seat, with Duffy vowing last month that NASA will give up on "all of these Earth sciences," highlighting the White House's dismissal of climate change and anti-science stance.

USAID was one of the few government venues (that Trump hadn't yet destroyed) for which Melania could project herself as doing useful work for the world.

    Trump gutted USAID.

It puts her back to restarting her anti-bullying initiative (which is due to Trump's bullying and destruction of USAID).

Trump too senile to destroy democracy on his own.

'Increasingly senile wackjob': Expert says Trump too broken to destroy democracy on his own

    excerpt:

“There are plenty of reasons to give credence to this theory, too,” said Morgonbesser, referring to Trump’s weird fade-outs at campaign events where he repeatedly paused rallies for twenty minutes or more just to listen to piped-in music as the crowd waited awkwardly.

“He regularly confuses the names of places (for example, conflating Afghanistan with Alaska and then Alaska with Russia) and people (‘Tim Apple’ for Tim Cook and ‘Kristi Whitmer’ for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer).”

Morgonbesser also cites Trump claiming on numerous occasions that he had run or was running against Barack Obama for president, and asserted, erroneously, that his uncle had taught the Unabomber.

Uh Oh, US Farmers Totally Screwed Right Now

    excerpt:

"And the shortage of farmworkers is another self-made Trump problem. When the regime isn’t humiliatingly rounding up and detaining people with and without proper work visas, it’s also allowing the ones who do have H-2A visas to work in conditions one federal judge called “a form of modern-day slavery,” where they’re frequently abused, get their wages stolen, and are threatened with a call to ICE if they complain. And if Stephen Miller gets his way, there’d be no foreign workers here at all, and those waitresses, teachers, and stewardesses Miller and his cancel culture horde got fired for not mourning Charlie Kirk properly would be out there picking the oranges. Nobody ever said right-wing ideology was logical."

    Summary of Trump's revenge tour.

    https://www.politico.com/news/magaz...nge-tour-weaponize-government-column-00529277

    excerpt:

"There is also a distinct Keystone Cops vibe that has been given off by Pulte as well as Ed Martin, who is overseeing both the DOJ investigations into mortgage fraud and the DOJ’s Weaponization Working Group. Even a bad prosecutor can make his targets’ lives miserable, but if you want to successfully prosecute your political opponents — on charges that are real or contrived — you should have a competent lawyer in charge.

Martin, of course, has never actually prosecuted a case in his life, though he briefly served as the acting U.S. Attorney in Washington before his nomination to serve in the post fell apart in the Senate amid bipartisan opposition. In his brief time in the position, Martin became (in)famous for professionally amateurish and impetuous screeds threatening some of Trump’s political opponents."

Kimmel show suspended indefinitely over comments about Kirk.

ABC Suspends ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ “Indefinitely” Over Charlie Kirk Comments

    excerpt:

"Kimmel’s original comments were as follows: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Then on Wednesday, Carr went on a podcast where he slammed Kimmel and declared that affiliates should “push back” on ABC and say, in effect, “Listen, we’re not going to run Kimmel anymore until you straighten this out because we’re running the possibility of license revocation from the FCC if we continue to run content that ends up being a pattern of news distortion.”

Nexstar issued a statement late Wednesday they would not air tonight’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live and would pre-empt the show for the foreseeable future."

Doesn't really matter what he said in this particular incident, they were just waiting for an excuse.

Look for more suppression of free speech in the days to come, remember Trump is also suing the NYTs for $15 billion dollars.
