Hippies DON'T listen to rap. Some of those old blues greats, Son House, Elmore James, Muddy Waters, must be spinning in their graves at the stagnation and decline of black music that is Rap and Hippity Hop bollocks. :p

Start listening to some truly great musicians. What rapper can even claim to be worthy to kiss Hendrix's ass, for example? He was in a different universe to these clowns who are nothing but modern day con artists, not musicians.

Maybe you should be lookin' for a Hippity Hoppy/Rappy Crappy forum, mmmm?

oh, is that so, master of peoples musical tastes? what do you know about the rappers who live in my city? you obviously have no idea about the lifestyle from which the true rappers come from, not talking about the sold out shit you see on tv. so you want to base your whole knowledge of rap on that kind of rap huh? look at my sig, whens the last time you ever saw these two men on tv? and theyre the kings of both of their jazz and rock worlds.

Or maybe, there are many people on here, like myself, that like all different types of music. And dont bind themselves to saying things like DONT, as in hippies DONT listen to rap. I actually know a few hippies (couple of friends dads) who listen to rap because their kids got them into it. Its not like their going to go out and buy the damn cd, but it doesnt mean they cant like it either. And you have stereotyped rap by calling rappers modern day con-artists. Yes there are some rappers out there like that, but there are people like that in every form of music. You forget that lots of musicians ARE in it for the money, not just because they enjoy it.

I was never much of a hip hop fan until recently. I'd never been exposed to any hip hop, besides what MTV has shoved in my face, and I hate that kinda stuff, but I've been listening to some underground-ish stuff lately.

My favourites would have to be Citizen Cope (He's like a hippie rapper:)) , and K-OS (Ok, not so underground, but still a genius.)

There is some decent rap/hip-hop, mostly the early stuff. It was all breakthrough, new experimental stuff. The sad thing is most rappers today are really awful. but my favorites are Wu-Tang Clan (Ol Dirty Bastard, RZA, GZA), Beastie Boys, and Outkast (truly some very genuine material).
