I also came here in 2004, then forgot about the place due to life. I cannot remember my username tho. Signed up again maybe eight/ten years ago.
Yes, you're correct on the year. That was when the forums went live with actual forum software as opposed to posting up emails into manually generated html files. I think the first forum was Question of the Week. Replies were posted up the next week. Those were fun days! Site got very busy very quickly. Everyone was a newbie and so was the WWW! Next year it will be 30 years since the Hip Forums posted its first email. At first there was only one forum. Once more forums were added the site took off. I remember Pressed Rat complaining that he couldn't read every post anymore. I laughed. There used to be many hundreds of people posting everyday. There was even a brief period before trolls, if you can believe that.
