just take care of it like they tell you to when you get it done... be careful to not get it caught on something and you'll be fine. I had mine for 2 years ( had to just take it out cuz of my preggo belly) and i never had any problems.

I've had mine for 7 years and never had a problem with it. I forget it's even there and then when someone mentions belly rings I remember and get surprised:p
Mine kind of lays to the side a little (i think it is supposed too) and so I've never had a problem with it getting caught on anything. But untill it heals you'll want to wear low slung pants so as not to irritate it. Have fun!

I hadone for a few years and then decided to take it out. I was such a pita. It took *forever* to heal and I would still have problems with it, even though I took such good care of it. :(
That was probably the worst piercing I got. I was so disappointed.

I have mine pierced. I have had it for years. I love it. It didnt hurt like i thought it would at all. It was like a little bee sting, and it didnt even irritate me at all afterwards. Unless my pants hit it or something.
The thing that i thought hurt was the pinching of the clamps. Sometimes i find it gets a little red when i wear pants or anything where the button would rub up against it.

i've had mine for 2 or 3 years and i still love it. i had no problems with it healing or anything and i never used chemical cleaners or anything. just pears soap and epsom salt baths to soak out the junk, like my piercer told me. i can't figure out why they told me that and it was just fine and yet other peircers tell you to use all this antibacterial crap.

the belly button is a tricky one. Make sure you go to someone who is really good at what they do. The most important things about getting any peircing is a good peircer, and making sure you take care of it through the healing process. The body tends to push belly button rings out often. When I got mine done, it wasn't peirced deep enough, so slowly it was pushing out, until it was just being held by a thin layer of skin - obviously I had to take it out and haven't gotten it re-done yet. But I plan on getting that and my tongure done very soon.
Make sure you pic a good peircer!!!
    Have fun, and good luck!

Definitely listen to the advice they tell you. Clean it how they say and only change/remove it at each time they tell you. As long as the place is clean, most infections come from the person not listening to what is supposed to be done.

i had mine done, and left it in about a year and a half, before i gave up on it, and took it out. i took care of it like they tell you to, but the damn thing never healed. i was always getting it hung on something. if i had it to do over again, i would have gotten something else pierced. ...they're cute, but altogether, not worth all the trouble, imo...

I agree about the hole thing. I hate the fact that I now have a permanant hole because of it. It looks wierd. And I have to admit, mine hurt worse than my other piercings (tongue and nose). I really regret it.
My sil had the same problems. Even though she's not big on the naval ring, she got it repierced because she said the scarring looked so bad that she would rather deal with the ring than looks at the scar all the time.
