I would really be interested in detoxing my body. Can someone tell me exactly what and how to do it? Also, tell me the exact benefits from it? Thanks in advance
You should check out some sites about fasting. I've gone as long as 2 1/2 weeks just drinking juice, tea, and citrus fruit and it makes you feel great. Also the discipline involved makes you feel like you're better then everybody else.
Well, drinking a lot of water is one way.... probably the best way. There are also herbs and teas that are very beneficial in flushing out one's system. Milk thistle, dandelion, licorice root, echinacea, and burdock root are just a few of the herbs often used. They can be bought as supplements or made into tea. The benefits of detoxing is that it (obviously) flushes the system out. A build-up of toxins in the body can make you feel really weak and tired (chronic fatigue), and generally really shitty overall. It also weakens your immune system and leaves you more prone to certain diseases. Detoxing also involves fasting.
Because it flushes out your body of both bad and good things and it can only do so much. You'll want to drink a normal amount of water and get something else to help you body flush out itself and not just rinse out you digestive tract and blood with too much water. I usually go to the mall and get some wheatgrass juice cause it really helps suck the shit out of you.
And if you're thinking of detoxing it probably means your diet isn't that good in the first place so I wouldn't just jump into fasting as you're probably deficient in a few important nutrients. You should probably eat really good for a few days before you start a fast and even then an apple or two wouldn't hurt.
Juggz - if you maintain a healthy diet and take supplements, you don't have to worry about flushing the good things out. Most of what is excreted in the urine are things the body doesn't need (ie: waste), while the nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream and circulated throughout the body.

I didn't meant that, I was talking about when people drink so much water in a short time that they shit water. But water can still only do so much there are certain deposits that are locked away that it won't touch. You need something to help disolve it.
I fast one day every week for both religious purposes and detoxing. For twenty four hours I drink nothing but good old h20. Combined with my healthy diet, supplements and gym routine, I feel refreshed.
