I know jesus was totally shit scared beofre he was killed, and he didn't want his disciples to see him in the state he was...so he spent some time in a wood....what i don't know is why or what he was so frightened of?. i'm trying to find out if he was scared becuase it's natrual to be shaking with fright before you meet your maker....ie.die. where is jesus now? what happened to him when he died and why was he SO SCARED?. any thweories i'd love to learn about ! thanks
How would you feel at the prospect of flogging and being nailed to a cross? It is a natural reaction of the human nervous system at the prospect of pain and injury, and the idea is that Jesus shared all our human feelings. Unless you believe in a hellish afterlife, death itself isn't that scary. The mode of death though is another thing.
well i'd like to know more about it becuase if he was that scared of the unknown it takes alot of pressure off me and other mortals to be allowed to have deep fears
maybe he was sooo scared of dying and going through all of that because he wasnt the son of god. dont you think jesus would be able to take that if hes god and all?
well He was carriying all of the sins of mankind at the time...thats one of the reasons he was out praying in the garden when Judas betrayed Him.... oh ya...and in one of the gnostic Gospels, satan thinks that Jesus is coming into Hell then Hell is all "what, no He sint and you should be afaid"...then i think Jesus comes to afce satan and satan is overcome.... but yeah
yea well. i dont think he died for our sins, cause that really doesnt make any sense. and anyone whos ever tried to explain it to me couldnt answer how he died for them, they just rambled on. I dont believe in god.
It might look like that - if he's God why should he have fear? But Christians believe Jesus was both Divine and Human. When he came into this human world, he became just like us in terms of bodily life. He had to eat, drink, sleep just like everyone else. That's one of the things Christians get from Christianity in fact; a belief that although we suffer here, Jesus too suffered, God Himself knew physical , human suffering. But in effect, after the episode of the 'agony in the garden' He did 'take it'. Also, and importantly, Jesus is seen as an exemplar of the right way to live. Situations arise in life where people are asked to risk death, or even sent to certain death, in wars etc. By allowing Himself to come under the powers 'of this world', in the shape of the authorities, Jewish and Roman, he was accepting his own death as a sacrifice for the greater good. OK - you may not believe Jesus was Divine. But the same attitude of being prepared to sacrifice even one's life if need be was also shown by Mahatma Ghandi, who came close to fasting to death on more than one occaision, once again, for the greater good. There are many examples.
I think Ghandi died for many more and better reasons than jesus. someone told me in the Ghandi movie he got shot and says ouch. I though i might add that cause it makes me laugh.
Actually, both in the film and real life, Ghandi uttered only one word after he was shot and before he fell dead - 'Ram' - the name of God. According to Hindu tradition, he/she who leaves the body whilst saying the holy name is assured of liberation. Hence Hindus see that as further evidence that Ghandi was a saint.
I was slightly wrong - he looked first at the man who'd just shot him, said 'you have killed me' and then said 'Ram'. Glad you respect Hinduism. But a lot of Hindus see Christianity as not that different, and not absolutely incompatible with Hindu beliefs. Unfortunately, a lot of Christians aren't so open minded...
I think the world could be a lot better without christians. I hate that religion. NOt all christians are ignorant close minded assholes who think they are right about everything, but so many are and that why I hate it. PLus what they teach if complete bullshit. Im atheist, but I used to be christian.
OK - all I'd say is everyone has their own take on reality, we're all unique, and we all have to find whatever path or belief is right for us. I don't have a problem with anyone's beliefs unless they seek to force it on me- The force be with you
but yeah...im not christain...i was just saying that from what i would assume woiuld be a christain view from the christain part of my faith..
thanks for reminding me about his satan trying to take him to hell. it's like judgement day.a final test or something...he had a pure enough heart to change his direction or something...? it's so beautiful
If Tibetan monks can sit in the road and light themselves on fire and burn to death calmly....how in gods green earth can Jesus have possibly been scared? As if! He was scared of physical pain? Well, then I personally know lots of people with bigger cajones....... I say he wasn't the least bit scared, and that he never died anyway, but was rescued and made a full recovery, wisely keeping a low profile for obvious reasons.
but. theres a part about him specifically saying don't let them see me like this...because he was shaking with fright when he heard the news that he was gonna get fried. he didn't want his disciples to see him so afraid. i want to know what he was afraid of if it wasn't mortal pain. myabe the prospect of seeing all the 'sins' he had to 'burn up' i don't know! i reallly want to though!!!! anyone got a take on it? .was he afraid of meeting satan.? what was that part of the bible trying to teach to us?.....please help me!!!! i don't read it much..but thats the part i want to know the meaning of... *perplexedetc*what was he scared of then?
