Having abstained from Meat/Bird/Underwater Creatures for the past 29 years I remain in good health. All the nonsense about meat being a necessity is nothing more than propoganda as far as I am concerned. Furthermore, I have not had a new cavity since! I decided to do it for the sake of not involving myself in self gratifying cruelty of the helpless. If you think about it, animal slaughter without true need is really a cowardly fucking thing. In situations of true survival need. Another story!
Next year, we ought to have a giant ass 30th veggieversary party for you with lots of presents. It'll also be my 10th, so naturally I'll be expecting presents too. I prefer cash.
Yes good for you but you need to eat protein of meats I feel and hoping you wont impose your insanity on any of children and pets in your possesion
when is the last time you have heard of anyone having protein defiency or any protein related problem at all??? btw-congratulations,i gave you good rep too
So you eat meat because you feel that we need the protein in it? Have you given soybeans a thought? Soybeans contain more amounts of higher-quality protein than meat. What about cannabis seeds? Cannabis seeds contain even higher-quality protein than soy! (They just barely don't have as much of it.) And, I fail to see how being a herbivore is insanity. Yes, some creatures eat meat, and some don't, because they don't have to. We're one of the creatures that doesn't have to (whether it's because we have long necks or because we have a brain), so ... it is closer to insanity to eat meat when you don't have to, such as you do. And if/when I raise any children I and my partner might have, you can bet they won't subscribe themselves to an immorally-built system that holds the world in its grasp today; I won't teach children that it's right to kill or to support killing animals. It's not.
People with poor immune function may be lacking in protein. If you no anyone who seems to get frequent colds or throat infections, they could be lacking protein.
Meat might not be necessary, but some of the nutrients found in animals product are VITAL, especially b12 (see "sticky") Fish oils, especially omega 3 are also important.
My own sister has had some problem. She was not getting complete amino acids and as she had not finished developing due to her starting at young age it could have been serious. Doctor said there was nothing wrong in her having a vegan diet but she should have more care to make sure she got complete amino acids which she normally get from animal protein. Now she is fine but I still think that it may not be so wise to give children same diet, they should be able to make own choices when they are older and have understanding, same really with religion.
or after a lot of the stuff I have been seeing lately they may be lacking worms or certain gut bacteria...which has far more to do with eating whole foods and cleaning too much than wether you choose to eat meat or not... hey congrats for making it so far and I wish you another happy twenty nine years!!!
"Now she is fine but I still think that it may not be so wise to give children same diet, they should be able to make own choices when they are older and have understanding, same really with religion." choice... yeah i can agree to that. i think what i'll do is raise my kids veggi, and then let them choose to eat meat later on, like, after i'm not buying the groceries. i don't see why i'd raise my kids to do something that i feel is morally wrong. if i wouldn't eat it myself, it seems hypocritical and almost mean to feed it to my offspring.
minjeig, it is nice to talk with somebody like you that has good logic and I understand and respect your reasons. I think a vegetarian diet is healthy as long as it is carefully planned, especially for children, doctor will give you the best advice I think and I hope your children are very healthy and happy.
Aye. I suppose if you're going to raise a child as a vegetarian or vegan, you should contact a doctor first. Infants may have to be limited to certain foods that contain many things infants need, and the same with small children and even developing teens, meguesses.
Sheesh, if you'd just said that a while back then we'd all be in agreement! Although I would point out, a healthy meat diet would also need planning. Left to their own devices, kids would be eating burgers, fries and chocolate all day!
meatless meats which are suprisingly tasty carry basically everything you need if you get the right kind, mine has vitamin b12 in it as well as a ton of protein and some other stuff, and no where near the amount of cholesterol or fat(or cruelty) as regular meat.. also, my vanilla soymilk compared its nutrient makeup to regular milk on the side panel and its wayyyyyyyy better for you, and i honestly could not tell much of a difference between it and regular milk, my corn pops were as tasty as they usually would be.
I think that if the person is not informed it will not be good but I can tell from he postings that she is responsible lady. I still hold to my own thoughts about this and if I have had my children I would not be giving them vegitarians food, but I see not point really in trying to change minds because people have thier belief and it needs to be respected from both sides of argument. I believe honestly that if people who eat meat were less happy to criticise vegans and vegitarians and also if vegitarians were more happy to let meat eaters alone then more people would be vegetarian because I am sure that arguments put people off and force to typecast people. It seem like a lot of posts on forums are wars between people who eat different things, we are all human beings and we should get along better otherwise we are making more problems.
