jazz

not much talk of jazz around here. so what are your thoughts?

 

whats to say other than we need more of it on the radio nowadays and none of that kenny g bullcrap, or "smooth jazz" ....we need real untamed jazz that you hear in the lounges and clubs.

Jazz needs a rebirth

 

I wouldn't say kenny g is "smooth jazz".

 

I think it's because jazz now means smooth boring jazz like the one my parents listens to. But jazz is sometimes good !

 

yea that untamed jazz...that's the best

 

check out Vince Guaraldi. (yes he wrote the Peanuts theme) Especially an album called From all Sides (with guitarist Bola Sete).

 

I'm wondering about this new jay geils album that people keep talking about... he's now a jazz guitarist... Van Morrison does swing/big band/jazz now...

 

Oh, and of course, Derek Trucks always has great jazz... and blues...

 

mmmmmmmmmm...... jazz. its great. limited to certain extents - there's a skeleton to build around, but at the same time its so free... =)

 

I love Cab Calloway. Real old school jazz is the shit.

 

i had a few albums of Dave Brubeck... very good stuff i also listen to jazz a lot on the radio and can't wait to see some live in the summer... jazz is cool

 

jazz/funk is where it's at- some herbie hancock, some medeski, martin and wood, a bunch of john scofield, and of course soulive plays relentless funk.

have you heard that child prodigy..matt savage?. he's 10 at the mo. he's autistic, and plays with a pretty perplexed trio..he's someone to watch becuase when he's older he'll be a revoloutionary. he's preety ffing amazing now. his latest album blew me away.
