ok, so i have been on the pill for at least 3 years now.. maybe almost 4. i was just wondering if being on the pill for a long period of time can have any long term effects on fertility or anything like that. can it decrease your fertility or screw up your horomones when you go off it? any info would help, ive just been wondering about it lately.

also, my doctor recently found a lump in my breast. it checked out and apparently it is not a cyst (which i was hoping it was). i remember reading that the pill can cause lumps in the breast. do you think the pill could've caused it? i am supposed to go get it checked out again.. i want to have a biopsy done to find out what this thing is, but im kinda freaked out. hopefully its just a calcium deposit or something?

I seem to recall that the pill can increase chances of breast cancer slightly - but so can about a thousand other things we're exposed to daily. I don't remember ever hearing any research about decreased fertility from the pill, that's probably one of its biggest benefits in comparison to other birth control choices.

yes, the longer you are on the pill the more it will effect your fertility and chances of getting breast cancer. The hormons are pretty intense, and are rough on your body. If you search online you may be able to find some good information about it... but I'm not sure. A great book to read is Taking Charge Of Your fertility by Toni Weschler.
