a friend asked me about vegetarianism and athletes, especially in regards to weight lifting and training. (as he does on a regular basis) i'm having trouble finding information and links about this information. anyone able to help?
Athlete to win Ironman Triathlon more than twice: Dave Scott (6 time winner) Food choice of Dave Scott: Vegetarian I found that a long time ago at some website that was posted here....cant remember the website I just copied the info down to a notepad because I printed it so I could put it on display in school...there was a lot of info about the dangers of meat eating and stuff like that
I dont have too much info but I play rugby and american football and during those seasons, i train and lift weights, Im always fine as long as i get every thing my body needs
I don't know of many. But I read a list somewhere (I'll find it again... ) But I do martial arts and sparring. They train you hard in sparring (60 push ups! ) And people say I'm the strongest female in the school, and that when I'm an adult I'm gonna kill people. All I need is good nutrition! ^_^
There were two top pro body builders back in the 70's, Bill Pearl and Robbie Robinson, who were vegatarian. If you did a google search on them you'd probably find some info.
Or Steve Reeves, or Charles Atlas. Then there's Samson and Hercules, but I don't think any of these guys were vegatarians.
Hey you know what I just realised? In the bible (I'm not a christion per say, I just read alot) one of the provisions for Samson's life was that he could never touch anything that was dead (it's in the book of Kings somewhere). How could he eat meat if he never touched anything dead? Unless he ate live animals. So maybe he was a vegatarian. (not that this proves anything, I just thought it was interesting)
