the music man is easily one of the funniest/most ridiculous musicals i've ever seen. also, the newsies. i won't say that they're good, just...uh...yeah. i'd really like to see a musical more in the style of 40's detective noir...in fact, i'll now take this opportunity to try to find one.
Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds (Does that count? Come on guys, it's got Justin Hayward and Phil Lynott in it!)
In no particular order... Hair Jesus Christ Superstar Rocky Horror Picture Show Hedwig and the Angry Inch Cats I'm a huge fan of anything Andrew Lloyd Webber.
I think most musicals are ok. I agree that anything ALW is usually pretty good. Anyone seen Phantom of the Opera in theaters? If you haven't you should. I'm a musical freak anyway, my life is pretty much a musical.
My fav musical by far is Les Miserables. I can pretty much sing the whole show, badly, but I can do it. My favorite play is one called The Foreigner by Larry Shue. It's a hilarious look at discrimination. The Klan gets it's ass kicked!
Rent my favorite. . . But there's so many! I love Hair, A Chorus Line, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Avenue Q, The Music Man, and The Sound of Music.
