is anyone else wary of being in the sun? i seriously hate this really sunshiney weather...i mean dont get me worng, it is beautiful and i do moan when it rains but the power of the sun freaks me out. i have little to no melanin in my skin and so have no natural protection, therfore dont tan whatsoever... "mega mega white thing mega mega" its scary cos the suns rays are so dangerous, yet so many people love to go out and get tans...and the media doesnt help..promoting tanned skin as the sexiest skin...maybe it is but in actual fact its damaged skin. when your older youll get loads of wrinkles and theres chance of skin cancer... so either its hibernation for me at this time of year...or a very large hat, and factor 60 sun block..eek!!
i was just saying to dandy about how i hate the sun i hate hot weather, stuffy, sweaty horribleness roll on the scarf and gloves
I really love the sun, thankfully I don't burn, it's this bloody heat that gets me, drains you completely....
I love the sun too ... I do burn but usually only for a couple of days. Skin cancer is a danger but as far as I know (correct me if I am wrong) the biggest risk is to people who never go out in it and then go into sunbathing overdrive as soon as the hot weather arrives
well..kinda..some peoples skin has more natural protection (melanin) which means they dont really burn, they just get tanned (jaz being one of them, grrr! ) but even tans are bad because the whole fact your skin has changed colour is becuase the suns rays have damged the outter layer..if you have moles this is bad news because as we all know the suns rays can affect moles in a big way and cause skin cancer. if i dont wear sun proection i burn to such a degree i can peel sheets off my back (like A4 sheets i am being serious) and i blister...my skin cracks and seeps, its horrible!! the only thing i can do is cover up and wear factor 60 as i said but then i get abuse from people that cant deal with white people! hahaa..apparently everyone is supposed to have a tan in the summer...what aload of rubbish...
oh i totally get your frustration! some parents are just so careless..and its been found that people most likely to get skin cancer at a later age are those that ran around with no protection on as kids...if you get severely as a child its bad bad news... i think its really sad that there is now shade, thats so irresponsible..its not just sunburn that is a worry but also sunstroke which i get eery year no matter how careful i am. its horrible, nausea, dizziness, blacking out, extreme fatigue... children should be better protected against burnin and sun stroke!!
really useful fact that'll stop any vain person from going in the sun it is scientifically proven that the sunrase speeds up the aging process if we had stayed out of the sun since birth out skin wouldn't begin to age till we were 60... thats the natural age to start to get wrinkles, saggy skin... shocking isn't it. Everyone grab your hats and strong sunscreen from now on and you'll look so much younger than anyone else your age.... ofcourse... then where is the fun in that? Sitting inside hiding about from the sun, not having water fights, to laying on the grass for a lazy snooze.. going swimming..for walks or just generally being outside the best part of the summer are the late afternoon evening times when you want be walking about in the cool evening and the grounds still warm for the heat of the way and the stars out because all the clouds are raining somewhere else for a change. You can sit up till goodness knows when outside and it it just feels so beautiful refresh and new. Love it!
i dont think people should miss out on the glorious sunshine..like through hiding in doors, i just dont think people think enough about the dangers of the suns rays...i know i am an extreme case, but my doctor told me i should wear uv protection all year round beacuse whilst the intesity of the sun isnt there in the winter..your skin can still be damaged. and there is this general fashionable thing about getting a tan...i hate feeling like im minging just coz my skin doesnt tan...
That's exactly like me...if I go out in the sun for even something stupid like 30 minutes I end up getting burned...I go bright red and then it peels off and I'm paler than ever underneath Ah well...I'll just go back to being called a goth till next October Cos everyone knows that only goths are pale Luckily I'm not as bad as you because my skin can produce some melanin...I just get freckles and look like a 12 year old ¬_¬
hehe! yeh i get the 12 yr old look to as i gte freckles on my face..but i literally get no colour whatsoever on my legs...i dont even think of myself being particulary plae until summer hits and everyones brown and i look like a dead body. thanks erykah, its nice to know im not the only minger
thanks dude...i miss that hair!! think its time to go pink again... not much choice there, but thanks for your approval!! hehehee!
yup, i frazzle, my face and arms are ok (though a bit red ), but rest of me is pale. that thing dandy said made me smile though :sunglasse
I too suffer in sunny weather. Partly as a result of over exposure in the past. If I go in the sun without high factor protection, I end up with a rather nasty rash, especially on my hands and lower arms - the areas I suppose that have had the most exposure inthe past. It's because I'm a red-haired, fair skinned type, so I'm in a high risk category to begin with, but as a child I used to get burned, and then later when I was in my 20's I also overdid things. But I don't let it stop me going to festivals and so on - I'm just careful to cover up, use sun-block and try to avoid the direct sun during peak hours. Driving can be a problem, as I say, my hands are particularly sensitive. On short trips I use sun-block, on long hauls, I wear white cotton gloves. I know there are more and more people in a similar or even worse position - the thihg is , if you are sun-sensitive to avoid exposure from the beggining.
i love the sun, but i too have low melaine and burn when exposed to the sun. i have frekles but my legs look like milk bottles all year round. i'm not bothered that i'm pale i just get sick of people looking at me like some freak because i have white skin. if i do want to look a little browner (maybe a party etc) i'll go and pay my £12.50 an have a spray job that lasts a week, i'd rather have a fake spray tan that fades in a week than a life time of skin problems or even cancer. i've told my sister too many times, i'm not going to give her any sympathy when she gets skin cancer from using sun beds twice a week. i cant say the sun is a bad thing, i still sit in it with my facter 20 on, your skin does need sun, i heard on the news the other day that people are still at risk from skin cancer if you dont have enough sun. people are getting the wrong message, they think that the sun is bad when its not, they sun makes the body produce vitamine D, and esential vitamine that the body needs to absorbe vitamine C. its just that people are too bothered about what they look like, they want top designer fashion, brown skin & big boobs. its such a shame what the media & magazines portray as fashionable & the norm, dont they realise that they are messing with peoples healths (more worrieingly childrens health) adluts know the consiquenses, children dont. i think that magazines should have restrictions like films do, i dont mean puting them on highter shelves & asking for ID when being purchased but restrictions on what they can print & how thin the moddels are that feature, just like films are edited.
oh dear oh dear, how wrong!! there's nothing more exquisite than seeing a porcelain beauty walk past holding a parasol in the sun. sun-tans are minging. ~
Hehe, Chicka, paleness doesn't have to be horrible! I'd rather be pale than be tanned yet wrinkly, or get skin cancer. Of course I am jealous of those who are naturally tanned. Hehe. Also, if you hate being pale you could always get some fake tan- they don't all have to look orange! I just slap on loads of factor 40+ or whatever it is and have fun in the sun From a fellow non-tanner, Summer. xx.
