I read about this last week. It doesn't surprise me in the least. I had a feeling it was fabricated from the very beginning, as are many things the government tells us. It's just like the rescue of Jessica Lynch, which was also completely staged and fabricated by the Pentagon.
hey! Did you guys know that the Invasion of Normandy was faked too? And the bombing of Pearl Harbor was really filmed at a soundstage in Hollywood. Hitler never REALLY killed all those Jews and he was never a threat to europe... it was just an excuse for the evil American Aggressors to shed the blood of it's sons overseas. All those graves in the American Cemetary in France are really filled with empty boxes! Some people will believe anything.
Okay, so you are taking the word of an EX Marine of Lebanese descent that was quoted by a Lebanese Newspaper... IN LEBANON! Am I the only one that finds that a bit odd? Isnt that almost like the Iraqi Spokesman that said there were no American troops in Saddam International Airport while we were rolling into Baghdad?
Why would they fake the capture of Saddam? For political reasons, obviously. Maybe they wanted to portray Saddam as this weak, broken-down and submissive old man, rather than a powerful dictator who went down fighting. Fictional stories like this work to the benefit of the neocons in instilling support for the war, as well as nationalism. It's called propaganda.
The U.S. mainstream media kept showing that short clip of the doctor going through Saddam's hair looking for lice again, and again, and again. That's all they ever showed.
Other governments over history have come up with multitudes of fake stories about their leaders, their countries activites, war heros, reasons for attack and capture, etc...why is it so hard to believe that the american gov't would do the same? Propaganda isn't just a tool used by other nations, it is employed very heavily here in the U.S. as well.
I don't find this hard to believe at all. Though I'm not sure if it's true either. Judging from Bush' tendency to try and make himself look succesful even though all he does is failing, Saddam Hussein probably hasn't been found at all yet.
Well, it doesn't provide a counterargument at all since we can be quite certain that the second world war happened. A whole planet of eyewitnesses, after all. All those that were probably present at the capture of Saddam, were soldiers, who probably would have the best interest in keeping the true story, if there is one, covered up. I also think it's quite a coincidence that they had a camera with them on a dangerous mission. Mel Gibson
Actually, I don't know if this is true, but i have heard somewhere that when saddam hussein's wife came to visit the captured saddam she was outraged and began screaming at the authorities saying it wasn't her husband. Peace and Love, Dan
It wouldn't surprise me. Like Rat said being found in a hole portrays him as a desperate coward. I'm not syaing it happened of course but I wouldn't be at all surprised.
yes this broken man .. writing funny poems about his love for milk an cookies was not her husband... However you see the capture of him.. the fact is he was captured , end of story. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/1221-02.htm
