There a storm a brewin', has anyone else noticed this? Its as thogh histories already repeating itselfs. We've got an unjust war overseas, we've got a dumbass manipulative president in office, and alot of folks are getting sick of it. I pray to God that soon we'll see the types of protests that went down in the sixties. I'd love to see us change things. I would love to be a part of the new generation that got fed up with being told what to do by the machine. I'd love to see the blinded sheep of the nine to five society finally open their eyes and see that whats going on is not right. I'm just wondering if anyone else feels this change coming on strong?
There will be no revolution this week.We tried to change the world but we couldn't even free ourselves. My generation baby is the one that voted bush in and has kept him in.We're the ones that support the bloodshed. We're the ones in charge of the corperations and big oil. We're the ones driving the SUVs supporting the factories and exploiting the less fortunate. It's the pepsi generation coming at you strong. You can only free yourself and point the way.Be different.Drink coke.peace
I was just thinking that perhaps the reason why the goverment hasn't reinstated the draft is because they are afraid of another hippie outbreak like back in the 6o's. If so hippies are already on the rise anyways. I think things are going to get worse soon but I'll be on the side protesting the war and supporting peace.
I think the main reason hippiedom is on the rise is because of punk becoming so mainstream and watered down. Or dead. Arguably. Hippy-ish clothes fads have been going in and out of fashon forever, but the culture itself is still underground and alive after 40 years. Fuckin awesome, isn't it?
M'eh, I'm not convinced that the 60's were so successful on the first place. Sure they got a lot of publicity but i don't see as they really got much changed. All of the people in charge now were young back then, doesn't seem that their way of thinking was all that affected. We are probably in the same boat now. There is a motivated minority that is willing to act in persuit of change. But it is yet to be seen if we can actually reach that great big blob of indifference that is the American public.
I believe we can change the world...I just don't think anyone can be bothered...most of us are happy with our lives and we aren't motivated enough to make a rise. I'm all for the peaceful revolution...but to do that we have to be truelly willing to do it...instead of just talking about it in a forum... Now with that said, let's go out the streets right now baby!!! See what I mean? None of you got up...
Well, I will get up, it takes time for people to find their feet and there place, once enough people do and the environment is right then if things slide politically downhill enough then it won't need a big spark to ignite the mass of trapped gas that has been filling the room. With the door closed long enough and... and it has been closed a while! The problem with the sixties is that everyone took too many damn drugs, there is a difference between expanding your mind, using drugs as a tool and just simply drowning yourself in a good thing until becomes an escape and bad, the influential people of the time burned themselves out with excess, the music industry over worked the musicians through their capitialist money grabbing stance and hence most of the great ones died (overworked, too many drugs, and maybe a little push to help them on their way from someone capable of knocking off socialist American presidents!?). If you wanna make a real long lasting change you have to remain focused on a goal and keep your eye on the ball. If all your powerful voices start to die and your majority becomes too frequently stoned to have the ability to fight then your not gonna make into the next decade now are you? This may well be a very off-the-cuff appraisal of a very influential decade, I think there was massive steps taken in the sixities, and a lot of them have taken decades since to take real effect, but in soo many ways we have fallen back into a pre 60's out dated way of thinking... not so much that what was learnt then has been watered down by the mass population, but rather, has been forgot.... capitalism is based on consumerism, that has to change, stop consuming and the economic setup will colapse, then change will have to take place... but you have to know what you want to replace it with and how that can be achieved in advance. We have a dreadful system in place, we need a better one that is based on a global consideration of the worlds population and environment... I am going on from a personal instincts, I don't know enough historically or politically to presently make a well informed enough comment. We need good politicians at root level, we need good musicians and a sooo much more, but ultimately they need to be supported and they need to live into old age! The right wing seem to be better at living long, that needs to be changed... ramble ramble ramble... I think maybe I just talked a load of shit, but hopefully there will be something in there of interest, at least to create some inspired response and debate!!!
Revolution is on the way. It is because that is nature of capitalism. It goes to the extreme, creates much poverty or much richness at the cost of the majority, creates great unsatisfaction among the masses. Revolution is just a matter of time. Also in the USA I believe. The system will fail to give people the possibilities to live a decent life. A large quantity of people will be unimployed, with no money, no food, no land.. while a minority claims to own everything, pulling all the strings, choosing who to employ and how much to pay and after paying get everything back by selling necessities like food, clothes, and giving apartments for rent. When it will go far enough people will stand up and make a claim of their own. It is class struggle. That class contradiction is just not so visible in places in which people have everything because their richness is produced at the cost of the poverty of another country or continent(s). Anyway, I dream of a hippie revolution, but that will take even longer time to be fully established. After all, times change a bit slowly, as evolution, though sometimes there may be revolutions in the time of crisis. But world needs to change. someday it may be too late.
Not only that but people are becoming more dependent and outspoken. Right now some people think "different is good/unique, ect"
yup yup yup yup yop........... .... ... .. . ohhh the time will come again, eventually the cork will pop... unless of course things are worked out through some radical politics! ... does anybody know of radical socalist politicians that are likely to get to into power??? hmmmmmmmm ;o| ... I guess the cork will have to pop then! The 2nd coming, and staying would be nice... well, not sure I have that much faith in the human race as a whole, and I certainly ain't waiting for Jesus, Jesus!
Well, we do need to do something insted of just talking on the internet. If anyone knows of protests and shit goin on let me know.
Well, saturday 19th march is an international anti-war day. Demonstrations all over the world. That day we should all be on the streets making a statement.
