song writing - guitar

    This is a nice way to make the song unique - to start with lyrics and melody. Then you scratch your head and try to figure out what chords to play along with it. It you stumble on some fantastic chord progression that is vaguely supernatural it's not necessarily better than I - V - IV - I if you're writing pop or singer/songwriter music. Too much fancy chords and the song might eventually get lost somewhere along the road of creativity.

    ive been using a lot of chords that i dont even know what they are like for instance


    e-5-6-8-10
    b-6-6-8-8
    g-0-0-0-0 i guess now that im lookin at it im really just putting in my own
    d-x-x-x-x bass lines on top of simple smaller chord progressions. this is a
    a-5-x-7-x chord prog. that i use for a build up into a chorus for one of the
    e---6---8 songs i wrote. (i use a lot of fingerpicking)
