I've sold my body for most of my life now and I'm starting to feel the results.Thankfully my wife has insurance to take care of me.A little pain, but I don't mind. what about those others that aren't being taken care of.What happened to universal health care? We're all prostitutes for society.Shouldn't society be responsible. We have armies to "protect" us,though we're not being attacked. Why not medical armies to protect us from the real dangers?
That's were you see the utility of a public healthcare system. Here in Canada we have one, it's not the best in the world cuz we have to wait a lot but i am happy to know that i won't have to pay too much money. There is also a system that if you pay cotisations that will pay you if you have serious illnesses due to work. Socialist Canada is so great sometimes !
No generalisations please ! There is on kinda NHS in Canada, but the right-wing people says private is better ... THEY ARE WRONG
Umm..what does sex have to do with this? There are many people that need healthcare and it has nothing to do with sex. And there are many things that do have to do with sex (ex: pregnancy) that many people are struggling with because they can't afford healthcare. Everybody needs healthcare, even those who have been promiscuous (sp?) in the past. Let's leave moral opinions out of this please.
"sellings one body" is bound to be misinterpreted...or maybe not..I don't know what gate 68 did for a living!!!:X
gate68, I'm not sure where you are, but most places in the USA have programs for people who are underinsured. There are free clinics and other other clinics who charge on a sliding-scale basis. There is Medicaid and Medicare (if you are chronically disabled). You generally have to jump through hoops, and fill out lots of forms, and answer lots of personal questions, and subject yourself to scrutiny... But the help is often out there. Not always, but often. Like I said, I don't know where you are... But most "big cities" will have some sort of program to aid the underinsured.
Oh wise young kid, if I am so stupid please at least try to give me an argument to explain why you feel this way. Name calling and insults are for young kids... oh, sorry, you are.
Hell,I'm overinsured,I don't need it.The free clinics, though they may have dedicated staff are undermanned and are underfunded.I also live in a rural area. Most 0f the docters here are flakes. When I go to the docter I go to Palm Springs, where the rich people are and the good docters.I'm very lucky.Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra put a lot of money into the hospitals there. We have the Betty Ford clinic(Ozzy's second home). The rich are very well taken care of there.Me too for that matter, but like I said,I'm lucky. There's a lot of other people out there who aren't.
but aren't you in turn insulting him? and by insulting him aren't you insulting yourself? Just curious about that because there seemed to be a disconnect about how you percieved yourself and how you percieved the rest of the world, I just wanted to know if you realized the desparity.
Yeah I realized that after I wrote that I was being just as childish. I'm not usually like that. Not to make any excuses but my cat died this morning and I am really sad. He was like my child. I don't usually get defensive when insulted but I think I'm just lashing out.
By the way, I usually don't get insulted anyway, especially in this context. In my original statement I was simply agreeing with the fact that everyone deserves healthcare, prostitutes or not (which I don't even know for sure if he was being literal about "selling" his body one too many times). If there was some way that I was misinformed about the original meaning of this thread then I would like to know (sincerely) rather than be called stupid.
though I never sold my body in the traditional sense(LOL),you get my point exactly. As far as being called stupid,I'm sure you're smart enough to be over it..
Getting back to Healthcare.....Having had the opportunity to experience Free clinics in Eugene, OR, and the usual pay through the nose traditional healthcare in other places I've , I'll take the free clinic any day. Here in Idaho, the healthcare community, as is true of most care givers around the U.S., seem to be in it for the money. There are, or course, some exceptions to that, but they are few and far between. I think we are long over due for a system similar to the one in Canada, eh. I've seen too many hard working, uninsured, or underinsured families thrown into financial ruin by medical bills sent out by dotors and hospital administrators who live in million dollar homes. They should be ashamed. It is one thing to make a lot of money, but a horse of a different color to do it on the backs of poor or less advantaged people.
I'm not sure about Canada's healthcare system... But, I have some friends from England. They said that the healthcare is good, but the system is overloaded, so you don't get seen very quickly. It's okay if you never really get sick, but if something happens and you need urgent attention, it doesn't happen. For instance... My friend found a lump in her breast. She could not be seen for 6 months for it. If it had been malignant... Well, it could have been a bad deal... So, I have mixed feelings about socialized medicine...
